Post on bow hunting page but better following here so I'll try here to.
I want a medium weight jacket coat that I can layer under to adjust for temperature and not be bulky as I already have a bulky parka.
Looking at some cabelas and under armor products but open to any suggestions. Like the Sitka but can't quite stand the pressure some of them cost.
Thanks

My suggestion would be a fleece with some sort of windproof membrane. IMO they are ridiculously warm for no more bulky than they are.

This is the route I'm taking. Three out of the last 4 years we have had snow on the ground Halloween week and it has been pretty cool.

I've been bowhunting and everything else in Asbell wool for the past several years and been very happy with it

Anybody else?
I have a Cabela's brand fleece vest with the Windshear membrane. I bought it on closeout, probably a discontinued camo pattern, and it works great as an under layer on cold days. If I'd known I was going to like it so much i would have bought the jacket version as well.

A jacket made out of that material should get you through a lot of different conditions and would be ideal I think for Bowhunting.

The Sitka stuff is pricey and made for skinny people, which I am not. But I am fan of the Cabela's wind shear products.

Bob.

Scent Blocker Alpha Jacket/Pants are by far the best mid-weight camo I've ever used. It's quiet, maneuverable, comfortable, windproof and is perfect for layering under if needed. Perfect combo for Vermonts October weather!

Do you have to have camo? I just saw wool jacket by Big Bill I believe out of Canada. It was perfect for what you're describing. Whisper quiet as well.

I just received the Kuiu Guide Jacket that I ordered this summer and it is fantastic. It is a mid-weight stretch soft touch water resistant fabric. I plan to layer under it and use the same jacket all hunting season. Their stuff is every bit as good as Sitka even better on some things and it is cheaper because they only sell direct.
