All I have left is the 22-250. Gonna try to find some 60gr Nosler Partitions . It is a Savage Model 11, I think it is a 1:12. I am guessing it will do the job, all shots inside of 200yds. Gave the 35 Rem Model 14 and Savage 99EG .308 to the boy, for helping me out.

I took my 22-250 & my 25-06 to texas about twenty years ago -buddy had an outfitter business . His management plan said 26 doe's needed to be removed from the property , I probably shot most of them using the 22-250 with 55gr. remington core-lockt soft points . Hadn't started reloading yet.

Base of the neck or in the 'pocket' behind the shoulder they didn't make very many steps and many went straight down .
Most passed through the smallish doe deer and had a ping-pong ball exit and good blood sign on the ground --so I think you'll be fine with the combo you mention .

I had trouble getting the little Partition to shoot well in my rifles, but both were 1-14 twist. If they don't shoot well, try the 55gr Hornady SP. For me these have been accurate and perform very well on deer, and they are cheap!

I would try a Barnes 50gr.TTSX bullet. They say it is good for a 1 and 12 twist also.

Yeah...the 50 TTSX will shoot in a 1 in 14..

1 in 12 would be a slammo dunko.

I took a buck with a 223 with a 65 grain Sierra Gameking last fall. Killed it with no problem. I've got a friend who leaves his 7 Mag at home and brings a 22-250 with him now. He has no issues killing deer and hogs. I think he just uses a factory 55 grain soft point.

The 63 Grain sierra SMP should work well too....

Has anyone used the 55 gr GMX? I've got a box of them sitting on the shelf.

If your Savage is a 1-12 twist it will stabilize the 60 Partition just fine, as that bullet was designed at least partially for use in the .223 with the standard 1-12.

Savage does put 1-12 twist barrels on at least some .22-250's. As an example, my Axis .22-250 has a 1-12 twist, and shoots the 60 Partition well inside minute-of-deer.

I have shot several boxes of 60 gr. Noslers through my 1-14 .22-250 with no problem. I suppose we have shot well over 70 head of big game with .22 caliber rifles from the Hornet through the Cheetah.. However I do not have enthusiasm for shooting big game with .22 calibers that some have.

Have literally seen a couple of truckloads of whitetails taken with these. By my Stepson and My friends Kids usually lung shots and the deer run about 15 yards. Though i have seen a couple fall at the shot. From small does to trophy sized Bucks. From 15 yds to 225 yds. If you lung shoot them they are deadly. My stepson shot a small buck at 200 yds through the shoulder and it penetrated and the buck went about ten yards. I am not sure why we mess with anything bigger.

I wouldn't work too hard trying to find them. I've done a lot of reading over the last few years about good bullets for 22cal rifles and deer hunting. I've also killed a few with the little Hornady I mentioned above. I found a lot more complaints about accuracy issues with Nosler's 22cal medium game bullets and this has also been my experience. I've never found a very accurate load with the 60gr Partition or the 64gr BSB. Nosler 55gr BTs seem to get rave reviews in the accuracy dept, but not in toughness for deer hunting. I love Nosler bullets and use them in most other calibers, but I've decided to stick with Hornady, Barnes, and Sierra for my 22cal needs.

Not quite as good as Barnes but the 63 smp killed a lot of stuff until I realized I needed a 308 not a 22-250 anymore...

Last 22-250 I loaded for a friend, picked an H380 load after some research, first 3 were just under an inch... we've never looked back on that load...

I shot em in my old 22-250 too a little bit you could get around or under an inch easily... at 100....not nearly as accurate as some others but plenty accurate all the same

Does WW still make the 64 grain (I think) Powerpoint? Twist probably not good for that, though.

Fortunately, there are good lighter weight 22s available now.

I could barely hit the target with 60 partitions in a 14 twist. But got less than MOA with 63 sierras and 64 nosler bonded.

So don't give up if the partitions don't shoot.

I had to be over 60 grains to be legal in Wyoming.

If you can get them to shoot. I've tried in a few 22 CFs with no luck.

I have had good results with 70gr Speers. They are semi-spitzer so a bit shorter. My 1:14" A-Bolt loves them.

Seems hard to believe a big woods northern buck would go down with a little 223 or 22-250. I hear stories all the time about 300 lb hogs going down on one shot. Must be true. I knew a guy who shot A 10 yr old 12 point buck with a 22-250 . I laughed at him. He told me it went down like a ton of bricks.

Would I rather have my 99 .308? Yup. Will I most likely kill one with the 22-250? Yup. Generally hit what I aim at. Just feels weird. From growing up in Pa, I guess. Apparently, you need a 30-06 to kill Pa. deer. The farmer whose land I hunt uses a 22-250 to kill them up to around 400 yards. 55gr. Soft point. He is out to eliminate vermin, not eat deer, and isn't too upset if he doesn't find it till the next day. Doesn't happen much. They usually go right down.

on deer.
That same bullet should work for me I would guess.
