Arizona Desert Mule Deer - 10/29/16
So it's been a long week in a good way. I had two hunts back to back, Colorado and Arizona.
I took a great buck in Colorado and had very high hopes of my Arizona tag as well. Only problem is that record highs were forecasted for the first 4 days of the hunt. But you can't kill them sitting on a couch.
We observed little to no deer movement opening morning. It was hard to stay motivated and glass when it was 94 and a 20 MPH wind.
However, at about 2 PM Chris glassed up a neck and head of a deer that hadn't been there the last pass. We studied this deer for an hour from multiple locations trying to determine if he was worthy. He finally woke up from a nap and let me see his quad pod on his left and I realized this was a deer I had glassed up scouting and was right at the mark. With the weather being unfavorable but knowing there were numerous deer bigger in the area, I had a call to make. I decided to let him have it as he was in a very killable spot.
Closed the distance a bit to about 430 and killed him.
He ended up being a bit better than what I thought he was at 181".
.280 Ackley, 168 Berger again. SWFA 3-15...
Coues deer up next....
Hope everyone has a super 2016!
