Two deer tested positive for C W D in St. Claire county Missouri this past season. New county and totally new area, away from any other!!
As long as there are crows and buzzards eating sick dead deer the prions will be spread to new areas. It is inevitable.
Yeah just as always said "isn't if it gets here ,it's when it get's here", for sure!!!!
Wouldn't have happened if you had a 4 point per side minimum on all bucks harvested.

???? And just how does the disease get scared away by 4 points per side?
Are you implying the infected deer would all die before they grew 4 points per side? The disease would still spread and destroy the population.

Read the antler restriction in NY thread and you'll understand the sarcasm.
I knew your meaning, we fought the 4 pt rule a few years back, but a few years later it has turned to be the best thing ever, lots more quality bucks, people really like it now!!!
Steelhead,
Sorry. It didn't make sense to me. Got it now.

Yeah I am confused by the somewhat random appearance of CWD in counties that are not adjacent to any known cases. In 2014 a case was discovered in Cole County (Jeff City) which put my two counties I hunt (Boone and Moniteau) in the the CWD mgmt zone. I am glad they are testing so extensively and it does not appear to be growing much if at all based on this year's sample size.
