What New Rifle Would You Like Marlin To Make?

If you could persuade Marlin to introduce a new rifle, what would it be? There are two I wish for: A .444 in the "SBL" configuration with laminated wood, short barrel, full length mag, big lever. I'd take blue or stainless but don't want the picatinny rail. Also want a 1894 CL in .38/40 Win. I can see the .444 being done but am not holding my breath on either...

A 336 cowboy with 22 inch octagon barrel in 32/40.

Bring back the ORIGINAL '95 length action so you can load .45-70 with heavy bullets without sacrificing powder capacity.

Good call. A Model 39 for .22 mag and .17 HMR would rule. I'd get one in .17 HM2 too if they'd make one.

A 9mm Camp Carbine that uses Glock 26 ten round magazines and a 24" stainless 336 in 219 Zipper.

327 magnum in the 1894, and find a way 4 their 336 to lose a pound of weight in stainless.

A with the standard Model 1895 Cowboy in Marlin 450.

Oh wait... they are not going to produce the 450M any more....

Well anyway, that is what I want.

How about a .25-35 lightweight 336 of sorts?? Or, maybe a .256 Mag. in the 94. Just sound like fun guns.

I wish companies would start making some real youth models. This is what they need to make. We need a bolt or single shot in several short actions, a lop 12", and a light 18" barrel. It should weigh 6 pounds or less. I see everyone making "youth guns" that are exactly the same except the lop is 1" less. This makes a poor choice for young kids. The few kids getting into hunting are very young. In Wisconsin you can now start at age 10. Some states have no minimum. My son has a H&R in .243 superlight and is a very nice rifle but not accurate enough past 50 yds.

Heck, I'd just like to see Marlin turn back the clock and undo the hideous changes they inflicted upon one of the greatest American rifles of all time, the Marlin 39A.
They should get rid of the crossbolt safety and rebounding hammer. They once had perfection, and then gave it up for some obscure reason. There have been so many reports of FTF's, FTE's, feeding failures, and all kinds of other quality-control issues that it's a disgrace!
The only new change I'd like to see on the 39A would be a more secure scope base system on top of the receiver.
Other than that, they should go back to the 39A that worked just fine for decades.

I'd love to see Marlin make a lever gun in 5mm Remington Rimfire Magnum!!

I'll go with a +1 on the SS in 22 magnum or either the mach2 or HMR. I would love to see the .256 WM as well just because I've never seen a levermatic in 256 come up that was even remotely close to what I could afford at the time. Last would be along the lightweight line, not just short. I would take the recoil for that takedown 45 colt that weighed 5 1/2 to 6 pounds. But, thats really dreaming.

Ditto. Plug up those two holes on the left side of the receiver and throw out the safety. Put a nice brass magazine follower back in instead of an orange plastic traffic cone. Offer a Mountie version so I can pay high new retail prices instead of ridiculous used rifle prices.

Offer the 336 Sporting Carbine version again. Or not, I already have one so that's moot, but I figured some of the unwashed, ignorant masses who have so far failed to acquire one might enjoy it.

Bring back the 1894M, but do it in stainless (and watch the weight).

A 39 in .22 Magnum would be great... I've had two of the 1894Ms and they are just too heavy for what one needs a .22 Magnum for...

A 336LTD, 18" stainless, 3/4 magazine, straight stock in .356 Winchester would do it for me. The 336ER is just too heavy and doesn't balance for me... I just found a 336D .35 Remington and it handles GREAT.

Since this is a new blog and most of you don't know me, I'm gonna start early with a confession. I love lever action rifles. I can still remember as a pre-Kindergarten kid looking through my Dad's Sears and Western Auto catelogs at the rifles and drooling over the lever actions. I can also remember looking at his Glenfield Model 30 30-30 on the gun rack of his bedroom and dreaming of the day I could shoot it.

A .32-20 carbine, maybe a Baby Carbine. And yes, a .32-40 version of the 336 would be nice.

I'd like them to bring back the Model 93 with chamberings in 38-40 and 44 -40.The 45 colt was neverd chamaberd in the older levers .That is a newer Cowboy action shooting deal.

Plough, I was with APDD last fall when he bought one of three NIB 32/20 Marlins. He picked the one with the light fiddleback grain pattern!

How about a 336Y in .35 Remington? Short & handy with plenty of power.

I think Marlin would do well with any of the wildcats based on the .223 case. Either 6mm, 6.5mm, or 7mm on the 223 case would make a very nice carbine deer gun, or anything. Think about it. Wallacem

Now that Savage Arms has dis-continued the mod.99 lever rifle, I would like to see Marlin come up with a rifle in most hi-power calibres, with either a rotary mag. or a clip-in type...preferably the rotary mag., and also in lever action. There aren't many good lever action rifles about these days, so am sure there is an opportunity to "make a killing" on this type of rifle.

16.25" barrel, full length magazine, "Y" stock, 1894 in .25-20, .32-20, and .45LC.

I could go for a Marlin lever gun in 348 and 356.

XS7 in either .260 Remington or the 6.5 creedmoor.....I know it won't happen but why not dream......either would be a great 6.5 in a reasonably priced rifle.

Amen to that, although I have to wonder if the problem is with Marlin not making enough, or whether it's a matter of wholesalers and retailers not wanting to stock them. For whatever reason 1894's are alway priced higher than 336's and maybe retailers think 1894's won't move out as fast.

Camp 357 that could be setup to shoot 38sp +p's as well. Would be the cats behind for home defense in non-free states, not that I need that here, but I do travel.

I've been asking and hoping for a mini "X" gun sized to the .223remington. CZ makes a mini mauser action for it's .223 sized cartridges and if Marlin would do the same, they would sell them so fast they's need a bigger plant.

Imagine a 22Hornet, .222, .223, 17 Rem, 17 fireball, 6.5grendal, 6.8SPC, 30AR, 7.62x39, 450 bushmaster, etc., chambered in a bolt action weighing less than 6 pounds and costing under $400 out the door. Any AR-15 chambering could be chambered in that mini "X" gun and give MOA or less accuracy for vry little money.

I would like to see them bring out a tuned 1894 in blue with upgraded walnut in some Classic cartridges like the 32-20, and 218 Bee and such. Make a high grade rifle that people would like to own. No more stainlesss and laminated stuff, REAL RIFLES. Tom.

Anything old-timey that casts a heavy bullet, or lighter that is just 'cute'. 25-20, 25-35, 32-40, 38-40, 44-40,45-60, (got the 45-70:), 45-90. Also like to see more octagon barrels, or half rounds. And ANYTHING at all in a takedown would be sweet.

If I could only pick one, I guess I'd want them to bring back the 336 Cowboy.

Next wish: an 1894 in .32 H&R mag with a slim round barrel about 20" long to keep the weight manageable. I had a .32 mag Cowboy and it was at least 3 pounds too heavy to be useful.

I'd like to see the .25-20 back in the lineup, .218 bee as well.

The 94's were designed to be flat sided to fit in a scabbard under stirrup fenders with minimum bulk.After the first time I carried mine,I came home and made a new set of stocks for it.

A full length octagon barrel in 44-40 and 38-40, Model 94, would be great too.

Saddlesore I hear you loud and clear! I too would like to see a couple of models with the full octagon barrels. I would also like to see a 45/90 in a factory lever gun with that barrel too! I suppose it is just wishfull thinking hey....LoL

I want to turn back the clock and see the marlins made w/ pride like they did in the early 1900's / late 1890's. Hear is my wish:

--Model 94 w/ 24" full octagon bbl
--Color case hardened receiver, lever,
--Perfectly fitted, smooth, hand rubbed, oiled walnut stocks. (no fat forearm)
--Custom tuned trigger & action direct from factory
--drilled and tapped for receiver or tang sights.
--You pick the caliber, 38-40,44-40,45,44mag,327,32 H&R,357

A .40 based on the 450 for the Guide Gun.

Longer, stronger receiver at least 1.25" wide, larger OD barrel at least 1.25" OD, feed 3.5" belted mag and large rimmed brass up to 50 cal cartridge, octagon barrels and a custom shop to build "semi-custom" rifles to order.

First, I hope they continue to make the 336Y 30-30 Win. they just reintroduced so my wife and I will be able to buy my son one for Christmas. Also, I wish they made a 336SS in 35 Rem. just like the 30-30 model they make now, nice wood, 20" barrel, full length magazine. Or even a 336BL in 35 Rem.

cant believe a 243 wont shoot . maybe you could try some different weight bullets. mine likes federal 80 gr bullets . or try other things. good luck and good hunting.

I'd like another run of '94s in .32-20 with 24" round rifle barrels and either button or half magazines. And they could make some more clip-fed 57s in .22WRM, too--missed the boat on that one!

Nobody is doing that.

It is a manufactured product. Nothing is perfect. I am a huge Marlin fan and the recent guns I have seen should not have been let out of the plant due to QC issues but I have seen the old one fail also.
