I'm not sure if this would considered a pro or a con, but I will relate a couple of my experiences with them. I used one in South Dakota on an antelope hunt, shot was at 293 yards quartering hard to me. Shot went in the left front briscuit and exited just behind the right shoulder. The goat reared back and fell over backwards, never got up. I was using Hornady Leverevolution factory ammo.

Other antelope killed on the same trip were two does, first straight on at 87 yards, dropped straight down. Second was bad shot after misjudged distance. I guessed 300, but must have been closer to 340. Shot went low and broke the offside leg. Chased her for two miles before catching up and finishing her.

Last was a coyote at 100 yards and exited leaving a baseball sized hole on the offside.

So, outside of where I was comfortable, it didn't perform. Well, that was me not doing it justice. I like it and won't sell mine. Hopefully it won't go the way of the DO-DO bird and the 5mmRF.

I have had one for a few years and love it. It is very accurate and fun to shoot. Dies, brass, primers and powder are all available now.

I also own a Remington 5MM Mag. I bought it new in the mid '70's. Now that ammo is available again it is out of the safe and killin' stuff again. This is another gun I will never part with. grin

Despite the many nay sayers who see no need for the 308ME it is a great round. Plenty accurate and flat shooting while maintaining mild manners,IME.
