gentlemen, I am reading a Clive Cussler book and the villain is using model 1895 45/70 in the year 1899.
what is wrong with that picture? was the model of 1895 chambered in 45/70?
well since I was wondering, I went to the only source I could find Norm Flayderman's (sic)?.
the 1895 marlin did come in 45/70. but the action was like the 93-94 with a closed bolt. not that this info is going to cure anything except curiosity. mine. book still had it wrong with the current 1895 being shown.
The original 1895's even came in 45-90 - model_1895
I have a couple in 45-70,and 1 in 33 cal., one of the 45-70's was made in 1895! so the picture seems in focus! grin
