Was out trading firearms on a local gun classified found this nice 39b for my grandson. Tweaked the scope a bit seems to be a good tac driver.[Linked Image]

Is the scope mounted to the barrel instead of the receiver? I saw a 39M at the local Gander Mountain store with the scope mounted in the same fashion. They wanted over $700 for it!

Yes to the barrel I traded a Ruger GP 100 for it , had that pistol sense 1993 loved that pistol , but when this rifle came up for sale or trade my gun fund was empty and he was looking for a revolver It was time for it to go

Is that a old Mossberg scope on it?
With the barrel drilled and tapped for the scope mount it is an older one for sure. What letter prefix does it have and we can date it or have you already looked up year of mfr?

Yes the scope is mounted to the barrel and it is a 39A I will take a closer look at what make the scope is and post the numbers so we can date it

OK scope is a Mossberg no.M4D model K192xx what year rifle is this

K = 1953 from what I can see.
that is pre micro groove so it has ballard rifling.

btw you did really good and I don't care how much you gave up for it. that's a sweet classic with proper vintage scope to boot.

I have one from the same era. Now I can't see most open sights worth a crap but this one seems to work for me in good light. Our local shooting range had a 22 rifle competition last year and I won the open sights with that rifle. It shoots absolutely anything I put in it right where it should. Wished I had one when I was a young kid. Still enjoying it as an old kid though.
