Guys: I know that any given 336 can, on a given day, out shoot another. My question: is there any tendency for the sporting carbine vs. standard carbine to be more accurate than the other? I think I need a Marlin fix, soon. David

My vote is yes. It has been my experience that Marlins with the forend cap and barrel stud attachment vs. two barrel bands will generally be more accurate.

Jim: Thanks. This is what I had remembered. Gave a 336A in 30-30 to a friend & sold a 336 CS in 30-30 years ago. Hogs are becoming more prevalent here in LA & killing a deer DRT can be important on public land. I was leaning toward a Marlin in 35 remington, maybe changed to 356?
