Hey guys, I finally picked up a 336 in 35 Rem. I have wanted one since I was a kid. Its a 1981 pre-CBS model. Its probably in 85% condition but will be great for hunting. It came with a box of Hornady Lever Revolution, but I am wanted Remington 200 gr corloks, or brass and I will reload them myself. y'all know of anyone or the best place to pick some up? I am in Tennessee and this is my first 35, so I am starting from scratch. I did back order 50 Sierra 200 SP to load when I find some brass.

Just keep looking. When you find some, stock up. Brass and 200gr coreloks have been hard to find. Buy loaded ammo, any you find, and save your brass. There are other good bullets worth using so don't be too picky. Eventually, it may take awhile, you'll get some coreloks. Speer makes a good 180gr, Hornady 200 grain, Hawk makes a couple too. Enjoy that .35!

I have several rifles chambered in 35 Remington and think that the 180 grain Speer FP is the perfect whitetail bullet for the 35 shooter.

I would like to try the Speer .35 180 gr but they are impossible to find.

Whydo you like this bullet so much over the 200 gr weighs by Remington, Sierra etc.

You might want to try some "non-tradtional" areas, such as pawn shops, gunsmiths, flea markets, garage sales, etc. Prices at the local gun shows are ridiculous....I've quit going! Talk about "price gouging"; 200% mark up on corroded, 35+ year old ammo in rickety boxes.....No thanks, I'll pass.
I found some at my local gunsmith....stopped in to see about getting some work done, and noticed he had some various ammo, primers, reloading supplies, etc. He had 2 boxes of never fired Winchester .35 Remington ammo, and the price was fair, so I scooped 'em up. He also had a bunch of linotype (When was the last time you saw that).....I guess he now buys firearms/supplies from estates and estate sales, and then pieces them out.
I don't think that the major ammo makers are very concerned with the .35 Remington; it's not as popular as it used to be, and even before all the shortages I was having a difficult time finding ammo....I haven't seen Remington core-lokt ammo or bullets avaiable in forever.
Anyway, congrats on the new gun and good luck with your quest.

Accurate, fast (relatively), and fast expanding/quick killing.

Not a fan of shooting any bullet made by Sierra at game animals, but am happy to shoot Fed/Rem/Win 200 grain factory loads into whitetails. One of my buddies from back in NH swears by the 150 grain Remington factory load, but I've never owned a rifle that would shoot that bullet as accurately as any of the 200 grain Fed/Rem/Win factory loads.

I have checked every pawn shop and gun store in my area. I ca find the Hornady stuff, but not any remington or federal. I did see two boxes on gunbroker for a nominal fee of $149!!! They will turn up sooner or later. The major companies should run a batch before deer season and I will picked some up then, but until then I will keep looking

Hate to be a wet blanket, but that's what I've thought for the past TWO YEARS!!!! Seems that the ammo makers are more concerned with churning out .223, 7.62x39, and 9mm for the black rifle guys than they are traditional stuff for other folk.

It suprises me that some one doesnt like the Sierra 200 gr. RN in the 35rem!

I have used them for years on many diffrent big game animals! I have taken whitetail, mule deer, elk, moose and a bunch of Black Bears with them. I never had a failure yet.

260Remguy: what issues/problems have you had with them?
