Hey gang,
I recently purchased a very lightly used Winchester 94 in .375 Winchester. It is certainly a beautiful gun, but it shoots extremely low, so the sights will need to be replaced. Does anyone have a sight that they recommend for this rifle? We will be using it to punch targets and hunt deer within 50 yards or so. I was thinking of a ghost ring rear sight. Thoughts?????
I have a Marble's 95 rear on mine just to extend the radius as much as I could, and a FO front.
The only reciever sight still in production for the BB94 that I know of is the Skinner. I have one, but I just could not get it zeroed in... damn windage shifts all over when adjusting the elevation and vice versa. I got tired of wasting bullets screwing with it.
Williams used to make an FP to fit them, but they've been discontinued a few years.
I’m assuming it’s a top eject?
Lyman used to make a 66 model that fitted the 94BB top eject but they are discontinued too. However you can alter a Lyman 66 that fits regular 94’s.
I’m not a fan of the aluminium Lyman’s but they are easier to alter to fit the 94BB. You need some files and patience to file the base to fit around the rear bulge in the receiver. Go slowly and take a little off at a time to make it a good fit.
I use an aluminium base and then fit a steel arm from an earlier model as the new aluminium ones are quite flimsy and easily bent.
I thought about trying a NECG Weaver mount peep on it, but that plan hasn't been on the front burner.
Go with the receiver peep. I like a small aperature but in early hours it can be removed for better light. Just don't lose it...
Looks like the options are a bit limited. Thanks for the ideas.
Try one of the Skinner sights. They are well made as a modern all-steel peep sight.
Another vote for the skinner. They'll get you the height you need as well. Another good one is XS with the white line.
