Anyone using the Burris 2-7x Scout scope?
Anyone have pics of it on a Marlin Guide Gun?
Ive had the fixed 2.75 on my 450 for years but thinking the 2-7x might have a few advantages with no dissadvantages. Looking at objective diameters on paper looks like I may be able to use the Warne QR low mounts Im using now.
I’m running two of them both on 308s. Tough scope, like the reticle as the 308 follow the hash marks. They are heavier than the fixed power scout scope.
I mounted one on the 1895 Guide gun I bought this year with the X-S base and Warne low QR rings. It barley clears the ocular, maybe 1/16 or so clearance. I honestly would like to mount it a hair further forward but it's at about the max I'm willing to go as I don't want the front ring right against the turret housing. The front ring is in the very front slot of the mount. With colder weather I could wear a thicker coat and it may take care of the problem. This is my first scout set up so I can't really compare it with anything else. Eye alignment starts getting noticeably more critical at around 5 or 6 power. At 7 power eye alignment is very critical. The scope itself is bright and clear and seems to do well in low light. No pictures of it yet, if it isn't raining tomorrow I may correct that.

Today was the first day I've actually hunted with it so my opinions are still subject to change. smile
Thanks guys! Sounds like it may be the way to go.
dave284, looking forward to that pic & a hunt report! Good luck!!!
Clearance with the low Warnes.

Front ring in the front slot. I would still like it a bit further forward for quicker acquisition. Sometimes I have to pull my head back a tad on the stock to get a full field of view.

As for the hunt report. Nothing much to report yet.
Beautiful rifle!
I have the "XS Lever scout" base. Might give you a bit of room but hard to tell. I have pics on my phone but too big to attach.
Vance, email the pics to yourself, at a lower resolution, then save to your phone. I have to do that with a lot of pics.
Thanks.

That technology is a bit over my head!
