Hey, I dont reload but am looking for any help on decent factory loads for my BLR .308.. Thx

Purpose= Hunting Elk/Mulies
The one factory load that I have sworn by for the last 16 to 17 yrs in the Browning BLR is the 180gr Winchester Silvertip load. However, I do not like the Remington 180gr corelock load in this caliber, because I have seen it fail to open up on several occasions by myself and others.

The Silvertip has always been reliable for me in the BLR 308
Awesome, thanks. Now if I can just save my pennies for 50 years, perhaps I can buy a box..
Yep, good ammo is gettng high. I am lucky in that I purchased several boxes of the Slivertip loading, years ago, and I am still using it. However, I have also been buying up some other stuff lately, but I havn't shot much of it.

You might like some of the 150gr loadings that Federal puts out.
I have had very good results with Federal Fusions in my 3 BLR's.
I had the same rifle and the 150 gr PSP Rem Corlokt shot very well and killed deer better than the 180 gr by far. The 180's didn't open on deer very well. I shot a doe head on and found the bullet in her utter about .40 in expansion the 150 gr found on some quartering shots were .60 and under the hide after about 24 inches of penetration. Also the round nose didn't feed as well as the PSP. Has a matter of fact I could not get a handload to beat it accuracy.
