The .348 is not a long-range caliber, especially with flat nosed bullets. I don't see the point of putting a scope on one, because it decreases the usefulness of close shots in the brush, which is what it was designed for in the first place.
Have shot a 71 for years with peep sight. set up as a guide gun can't see why you would want a scope of any kind , just more stuff to go wrong. With that said you would gain more shooting light with the scope, you will have to use a side mount and make sure the brass clears without trouble, if that is what you want to do try it and the heck with what other people say.
