I got my Browning/Winchester Miroku 1895 in .30-06 Friday. I'm having occasional jams when chambering a shell. It's like the follower doesn't lift up the shell high enough or maybe the shell pops out of the mag feed rails too soon. I took the mag box out and cleaned it. (It took an hr to figure out how to reinstall it, lol). It seemed to help, but it still failed once. Any ideas? (I also posted in gunsmithing.) Thanks!

He is the best gunsmith I know for the 1895 Winchester action
Thanks!
Try being a bit more enthusiastic in fuctioning the lever when ejecting the spent casing.
What bullet weight are you using?

What Arkypete said +1.
When my Miroku made Winchester 1886 and 1895 were brand new, it required a concious full forward stroke on the lever to eject the fired shell and elevate the fresh round for the closing lever stroke. This concious effort soon becomes an unconcious habit and the brass flys 4 feet above your head (best wear a cap or hat with the .405 and .45-90 brass) and the fresh round always elevates and slides into the chamber.

You have a really fine rifle - enjoy it.
Thanks for the advice fellows. It ejects empty or live rounds perfectly. I played around with it some more today and noticed HXP surplus ball ammo and Sierra 165 gr BTSP loaded ammo seem to feed perfectly. These shells are both loaded with very sharp spire points.
The Federal factory 180gr spitzers I had problems with, have a fairly blunt profile and tip comparatively. Thus, they occasionally catch on the chamber's edge when levering a round in.
I think it is just ammo related, so I'll just use sharp-pofiled bullets.

I'm bidding on two model 95s over at Gun Broker, both Brownings. This will make my third model 95. I'm converting this model 95 to 375 Whelen to go with my Mark X 375 Whelen. Should make an interesting battery of 30-06 ,375, and 405.
All three are and will be cast bullet guns eclusively.

Thanks for the offer of the tang site, my right hand and tang sites just don't mix.
I had one installed on my Winchester 1886 that site made that rifle very accurate but was very uncomfortable. So I had a reciever site installed.
Enjoy that 95, it's a fine rifle.
