Found one locally and trying to find out if its original or modified. Is $450 a good price?
Rusty,
As no-one has chimed in, I'll try to help. As far as I know the standard barrel length on the 1894 carbines is 18 1/2". The cowboys were 20 or 24" as far as I recall. $450 is probably about the going price for a nice one.
Good Luck,
Rick

The standard on 44 mag is 20" the 357's were 18.5". There are a couple of 44/1894 variations that were shorter. 16.5" I think, like the marauders.
I ran across this info, this may help:

1894S Limited: 1996 (1500 (2600?))
44 Magnum 45 Colt
16.25" barrel roll stamped Marlin Limited, uncataloged,
. 44 microgroove, 45 ballard rifled.

1894(SC)TALO: 1996 (1550)
44 Magnum
16.25"bl, *Not cataloged*, Special Run for Davidsons,

1894P: 2000-2002
44 Magnum
16.25" ported barrel
If you found a 1894p for $450 i hope you jumped on that!!
