WOOHOO, just traded for a .375 Marlin and 13 boxes of ammo. Setup for a while. Now got to figure out what to scope it with. Steelhead recommended a 3x Leupold. Looking for one. Should be a great deer rifle.
Who hunts with one?

Thanks, was just looking at the Leupold with Pig Plex. Might make a great combo..

I've shot a few whitetails with the 375 Winchester in both the Marlin 375 and Savage 99A-Brushgun with 200 grain factory ammo and 220 grain Hornadys. I had a Weaver V4.5 on the Marlin and a K3, both with post with post & crosshair reticles, on the Savage. A Marlin lever gun just looks classier with a non-belled objective scope, so a Leupold 3x sounds like a winner to me. As with all deer, if you shoot 'em through the lungs with just about any expanding bullet they die pretty quickly. I tried the 200 grain Sierra, but felt that the 220 grain Hornady was a better choice for me.

From a practical perspective, the 375 Winchester with 200 grain bullets is the same as the 35 Remington, which is never a bad thing when talking woods deer cartridges. I've been told that the 250 grain factory bullet was tougher, intended for deeper penetration on bear and moose, but I've never shot anything with it, so I can't comment from personal experience.

Good to hear about how it worked on deer. No chance on bear or anything else but maybe hogs. I imagine it'll work fine on porkers. Think sure I'll go with a 3x. Saw a 336 a couple days ago that had a 4x16 in see thru mounts. Disgusting..

Lots of 336s out there with clam-pack 3-9x scopes on them, many with see-through mounts.

yup, been working with my uncle in his gunsmith shop for near 50yrs. Seen a ton of them. Saw a sidemount Win 30/30 with a 4x-12x on it. Was told by owner that it increased his range a lot..

I had a 3x steel Weaver on mine but have changed to a 1.5-5 Nitrex. The Nitrex is brighter and not too big.

My 375 Marlin wears a 3x Weaver. I like the combination.

Just got one myself, has an old Weaver V7 on it, not too bad. Don't know for sure if I'm gonna keep it or not, got it in a trade.

Killed my best black bear with the .375. Not a leg twitch.

Marlin .357 wears a small Leupold and it's a great fit. Keep it small and light.

IMO the best scope for a Marlin is a 2-7x32
PS:See thru mounts make for a great outhouse door handle!

My Marlin .35 Remington wears a 2-7x33 VX-II Shotgun (parallax set at 75yds.) with #4 reticle. My Savage 99 in .375 wears a Vari-X III 1.5-5x20 with Heavy Duplex. Both very deadly in the woods on deer and hogs.
