This Cabelas link shows one at a reasonable price, but I can't tell if it's still available or not:

Another Cabelas listing with a somewhat higher price:

They do seem hard to find - I just lucked into one locally here a couple of weeks ago...

Good luck with your search!

Neither of the Cabelas rifles are available. Your best bet is to watch the action sites like gunbroker. There's a shooter on there now for a couple hundred less than a mint model, but still not cheap.

Before commiting to 38-55 check ammo price and availability. It is harder and harder to find. On Marlin Owners forum I read that they are paying $80 per box of 20 cartridges for 38-55 these days. Ouch.

Thanks for the input, I have been watching at gun shows and have picked up some brass and dies so I am good in that department now I just need the rifle.

If you aren't set on the octagon barrel, you can pick up a 30-30 and have it re-bored to 38-55 for less money.
