I have to say one of my favorite guns in my collection is my Winchester model 94/22. Got it on my tenth birthday and have killed many squirrels with it. Last Christmas my wife got me a matching 30/30. Cant beat a good Winchester!!
Weeeelll ... that's nice but I prefer my Marlin 39A and 336/.35 Rem.
What's next? A browning guy?
I had one in 22 mag that killed things bigger than it was supposed to. It was a nice little rifle for sure. Now I like them all, but REALLY like my Marlin 56.
I have one in .22 magnum and that rifle is one of my all time favorite rimfires.
Not really a Browning guy since I like my 9422's better, but I do have a pair of Brownings that I picked up not too long ago and have taken a liking to them.
Nice looking Marlin there Fireball. I've never run across one of those in person before, are they pretty scarce?
Man-O-Man
I like any rimfire lever gun but that's a rare beauty!
Thanks for posting it.
Fireball, was that model 56 checkered when you bought it??? Had one of those when I was about 15.. But mine had no checkering and was I believe tube fed.. It maybe was a 57, at this point I am not sure... Sharp, Sharp rifle..
We have a lot of guns to choose from. But when my son just wants to walk the farm he always grabs the 9422M. With large loop and peep.
Traded Jesse James outta a laminate-stocked 9422M. It showed up today...
I'll probably get one some day. I just saw a like new 9417 HMR in a dandy of a fitted case. Gent paid 900 for it. I want a trapper in .22lr.
For now, I'll have my 1894M and 39TDS to collect dust in the safe...that tears it.
I'm going jack rabbit hunting this weekend.
Gary
My 1894M and Mountie get their dust, the ol' fashioned way......
Getting your mileage off of those pix Huntsman! Time for some new ones!;)
Nice rifles.
WTF is ANY of YOUR pics? old, or new......
Here's a pic from 'bout an hour ago. Maybe that will make GoWhine-O happy..... 'new' enuff for ya?
Nice. Looks like you are getting some good use out of that Mag!
Hunts,
Mine has not been as busy today as your has, we are just pharting around the barn. But you never know what may pop up.
Danggit, Woodsy. I wish mine was walnut.....
That laminate still looks good!
Nice laminate there, and those aren't too common either.
Here's my 9422 magnum in walnut.
Great wood, azzy. I prefer the uncheckered versions, like yours. It takes me back to the beater thutty-thutty of my miss-spent yute.
That's a Beauty! I agree the uncheckered first Models are the way to go.
Whoa, Easy pahdna! I can understand your grumpiness, having to live in CO and all.
I just giving back what I was receiving, a little smart ass-edness.
Glad to see the new WinTUFF can shoot minute of badger.
http://www.24hourcampfire.com/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php/topics/3628684/1Here's my 1894M. My TDS would just make you cry if you say what state it was in after loaning it to my brother in law and his kids. If I have have it re-blued, I'll post some pix. Lesson learned, never loan guns. Give them away as presents, but don't loan.
Good gun Winchester94/22,got one in 22 mag also,,sweeeet
That trapper looks like a handy sumbish, bea.
bea, I have a 94/22mag just like huntsmans and love it but man would I like to get my mitts on one of those trappers. Didn't know they made them..
The trapper is on my want list. You don't see very many of them around.
All my 94-22's are as new in the box , i take better care of my weapon than i do myself . The Trapper has a Compact 4 power Leupold on it .
Have you shot the trapper at all? If so how does it shoot compared to the standard 9422?
I shoot them all and the Trapper is just as accurate as the standard rifle and if i could keep just one it would be the Trapper.
Danggit, Woodsy. I wish mine was walnut.....
Well, that plywood looks pretty good. Ain't gonna get wet and warp on ya.
Here is a 9422 Yellow Boy 22 Magnum I got yesterday from the estate I got the YB 22 lr from a couple weeks back. They made 4 or 500 of these but I am not sure on the number. I have a 9417 with the black and gray laminate stock coming also. Have a dealer wanting to get these from me.
Hey, I want in.....
New to me.
Scope is coming off....
I have these two in 30-30 to go with my Standard and Trapper 94-22's
I have the uncheckered walnut 9422M, and it is a great shooter. It prefers the lighter bullets, especially the 30 gr Win HP. Headshots on jacks are easy if you take your time.
That is one seriously fat Fox Squirrel!!!!
they do tend to gain weight when they eat corn outta the turkey feeder......

as a Kid I worked the whole summer of '85 to earn the $$ to buy my first rifle, this Boy Scouts of America 9422. never treated as a limited edition, but used extensively as my small varmint rifle on the ranch for many years.
Only fault it has ever had was the fore grip tended to shift forward a bit.
In hindsight, i wish I would have saved a bit more and bought the Eagle Scout version..
The wife got me a nice 9422M for our 10'th wedding anniversary, 12 years ago?
I Liked it so much that I started shopping for more to stash away for my 2 boys.
My oldest boy is now 16, almost 17. I gave him this one on his 10'th birthday.
(yellowboy version 9422M)
My youngest boy turned 10 recently and I was finally able to give him his which I purchased from our John Barsness on the campfire here.
Really cool. Lucky kids and a lucky dad.
Lucky dad for sure. All 3 of our "boys guns" are 9422M's
My folks gave me a standard 9422 for my HS Graduation gift in 1973; here I am shooting it about a week before I left for Basic Training. I still have the rifle and it still shoots well.

Thats a cool pic. I bought two 9422 mags when I got back from the Marines in 1976 and still have 'em. Bought a 9422 a few years later thinking I would give one to each of my boys and keep one for myself. Never did. Now I plan to give one to each of my grandsons later on. Plenty of other rifles to share with my own boys. It was the little gallery pump (I still have one left) that first caught my attention at the shooting gallery at the State Fair of Oklahoma back in the early 60s.
Many very nice Winchesters posted! Hard to beat taking a nice long walk with your 9422.
Here is my 9422 Trapper
And my 9422M

That Rocks!
The only trouble with my 9422 is that I don't want it to get scratched and it sits in my safe too long at a time.
I had horrible luck with my Marlin 57. My bother got one at the same time and his was as bad as mine. Trigger pull from the factory was over 15 pounds for both rifles. Dad had bought them for us, for walking bean fields all summer. He thought the safety was stuck on. With the narrow trigger, it was like a knife on the trigger finger. He worked on the rifles and got the trigger pull to be about 4 pounds. Shooting it after several years there were issues with powder/gas coming back into my eye/face when I shot the rifle. Finally it started falling a apart on it's own. Luckily I traded it off after piecing it together. Never have I seen a more worthless piece of crap that was branded a rifle. I hated lever actions and swore I never would get another. Then dad gave me a Model 92 Win and my attitude changed.

i would have loved to have found one of those eagle scout models a year and a half ago to give to my son for his eagle scout award. even if i had found one, i doubt i would have been able to afford it. he did get a decent shotgun though.
My 9422M is probably one of my favorite guns as well. I don't shoot it often, but I take it out of the safe and handle it a lot
Here's my 9422M XTR, and companion .22 Mag., Charter Target Pathfinder. This rifle has been handy for calling coyotes in close, and the Pathfinder carries 2 rounds of shotshells up top for rattlesnakes.
Always liked the looks of the XTR's but never have owned one. Only 94/22 I've got is a Classic. Perfect companion to a Single Six.
I picked up this .22 mag. last winter.. I has become my favorite for shooting varmints👍
I have a 9422xtr and a 9422M xtr great rifles
I don't remember the year that I bought my first 9422M, but I think that it was around 1975. It was not an XTR, and it didn't have checkering. That one went by the wayside some time ago, but it has been replaced by its twin.
I've been trying to find out when this one was made, and everything I've found is dead wrong. The lists show those made around my SN are XTRs, mine is not an XTR, So what gives~?
I have one in .22 magnum and that rifle is one of my all time favorite rimfires.

I have had one of the early 9422's that came out back in the late70's I think it was. It hangs in rack next to the door. Squirrels, birds, raccoons, feral cats, and an occasional dog that gets into the corrals that are harassing the mules get zapped.

It's taken a few coyote, wolverine and a wolf as well. A very handy tool on the trapline!
the 94/22 is my all time favorite 22 rimfire. the semi autos seem like they are fussy with cleaning and malfunctions. the 94/22 just shoots, they are expensive now days. If I only had 1 22, it would be a 94/22
Bought mine in the early 70s. Plain walnut stock and forend. I upgraded it to laminate years later........My .22 magnum is a marlin 1894M
Mine with a hardly used Weaver, shot 100 rounds maybe
