Not that familiar with these, but plan to look at one for sale.
Its a 1946(C serial #) Marlin 39A third model, first variation; probably 85%. Has some bluing wear,no rust, few dings in wood; but not bad. What are these going for? Should it have a site hood. Should it have a whiteline spacer on butt plate?

I just considered a 1958 in 95%+ marked at $695. For a reference point...

One in the condition you describe should be worth $350-$400.

Interesting; less than I would have thought. Blue Book(FWIW)is $475 @80%; $575 @ 90%.
these guns are somewhat regional, although the internet has changed that. the gun as described would retail in my area for $600-700. so a private sale should be somewhat less i would expect. if selling it to a dealer, expect half of that or a little more.

No way would any last on a self around here for that price, newer or older.
