Have had one for 30+ years and have never seen another one, are they rare, my old rifle shoots very well with the factory irons and has very nice walnut stocks.

i have one from mid 1970's ('77 i think)i don't recall when they went to the "M" designation for the Mounty but i think it was early 70's. mine came with the blueing in great shape but the stock had seen better days. since i bought it to shoot i didn't care as i got a fair price on it. i refinished the stocks and i shoot mine whenever i can get a chance. i have a receiver site on both of mine. i have an earlier mid 60's era mounty as well in well used shape that my son's take to the woods with them.

Don't know what you are looking for, but 39M's are not rare. In my neighborhood, they are seldom seen, but that just means they are not popular here. I was gonna post that there are a half dozen or so for sale on GunPoker, but, darn, there aren't any right now! Usually there are at least a couple. But there are a half dozen 39A Mounties for sale there right now (earlier version of the 39M).

I picked up a pair of 39M's, about 8 years ago, made in early 70's if memory serves. And, yes, they are "Original Golden". Also picked up a Golden 39A Mountie last summer, made in 1967, I believe. There are some variations in this series, but nothing I get lathered up over. They are just cool little rifles, and I like 'em!

In my neighborhood, a VERY nice 39M would probably fetch around $600. Other areas, maybe, not as much.

Thanks Jim, they're fine little rifles indeed, mine is the only Marlin I have, I believe it's a little more accurate than the 94-22 Winchester that's it's vault mate.

Love em both though, and come hell or high water will take em both squirrel hunting this winter.

Guess I was wondering "Grades" Mudstud, I've never seen another 39M and have never, short of custom rifles, seen wood this nice on a factory lever action, it's the reason I bought it 30 some years ago.

Nice rifles.. I have a 39a and a 39D.. Have had a couple Mounties, but my pals talked me out of them.. Mistake..
Just talked to a large gunshop in Austin, Tx. they said they never see 39's and if one comes in, it is gone in 15 minutes..!!!!!!
