My 3 year old boy and myself had to make a trip up in the mountains to tend to a mice infestation in our camper, not a fun thing to deal with. Anyways, our moose camp is about 65 miles up in the mountains. I decided for the more scenic route on the way out, it adds another 30 or so miles to the return trip. The scenery alone is worth it. We ended up with my bag limit of 4 grouse. 2 Ruffed roosters, 1 Spruce grouse, and a Boone and Crockett class Blue Grouse. The tailfeathers are 8 inches long, that is a Buck 112 in the pictures. Sorry for the bad kitchen pictures, the one mountain picture is from a previous trip threw the same area. No camera on the mountain today.

That'll definitely make book. smile

We used to kill some Booner Blues like that down in the Independence range in NV. More like big dumb Turkey's than Grouse.
There were also some huge Sage Grouse hanging around Wild Horse Resivoir that the care taker fed. They were so big they couldn't fly. Can't imagine what one of those would have tasted like. eek

Yeh it wasn't a smart one. The boy thought it was pretty neat. He could see it running down the road, from his co-pilot position in the back seat.
