Random day off tomorrow so I am heading east. Staying in Terry tonight and will be hunting tomorrow, all day Saturday, and Sunday morning between there and Baker.

None of my hunting pards can make it, they all work too much IMO. grin.

I have a pretty well mannered male GSP that backs and plays nice with others.

Any one who wants to get after some sharptails and huns out there, PM me and we'll figure it out.
I'd love to but can't.

Thanks for the offer.

Looks like a 5hr drive from Havre. Same as my drive from Manhattan.

Oh well, I am hitting the road after dinner.

I will check the thread when I stop for gas.

Dang, I could have just got in with you on the way by. I am sitting in my truck listening to the relentless rain that hasn't stopped for over 2 days. The fire threat is now zero around these parts. Anyhow, we are looking for elk, grouse are everywhere...
Leaving big timber

Just drove through a heckuva rainstorm, looked like there was feet of snow in the Spanish peaks.

Next stop, Terry
Great morning so far, 4 sharptails, all off points and retrieved, two coyotes.
Now it's time to find some Huns and some turkeys.
Pics, we need pics. Have a month and half before we get bird season to open down here.

90 degrees today, only hunted for an hour this morning and again at dusk.

2 sharptail and 3 huns. There should be a few more huns, but my shooting was suspect.

Had to salute 4 phez today as well, I can't wait til opener.[Linked Image]

4-star dinner while listening to huns covey call
Back home and watching the Packers from the couch.

Mid 80s again today, so we only hunted for a couple hours this morning.
I walked a section of CRP that I had scouted yesterday and found it full of pheasant.

Like coveys of phez. I now know exactly where I will be on October 10th.

Backroads did you make it down to the Baker area? Seems like our grouse population is down this year but our Huns are real thick this year.
Bird numbers were good in the Baker area for me, compared to the last 5 years.

What I am noticing is that the CRP is disappearing. Hopefully we can reverse that trend.

I sure hope so. There was a lot of shouting to end "farmer welfare" around here a while back. Nobody wanted to hear that CRP is part of that.
Nice Ithica, I bought mine when I was 17, that was a while ago, a sweeter shooting and a nicer carrying shotgun you won't ever find.

Nice pics thanks.
Good eye on the Ithaca jimy. It is a model 500 20ga with 28in bbls, choked fixed full over mod.
