I'm getting back into bird hunting with a new dog and last season my ll bean pants which are extremely durable took a beating as did my legs in a nasty briar patch.
Looking for a jacket and pants and Filson popped up.
Expensive and seem to be stiff and long lasting.
Any users and recommendations?

Thank you.
Duluth Trading firehose pants and jacket and/or bibs.

Filson Tin Cloth jackets, pants and chaps work really well for briars. Their downside is cost, weight and stiffness, but they seem to last forever...
If you can wear a size 40 I have a Filson Tin Coat that I'll sell for half of what they cost nowdays....I got it as a gift about fifteen years ago...only wore it four or five times....it's like brand new.....

Here's an old pic...if you or anyone else is interested I can take a better one.....

This Filson Double Tin coat is over 20 years old and the Single Tin chaps are 10 years +/- a year or two. Both worn in briers after upland game and rabbits - no tears, rips, etc. I would recommend Filson products highly.

Ps I have owned a pair of Double Tin pants for twenty years as well - haven't worn them since I bought the chaps - too heavy for me.

I had a pair, but they must have been too small, they made me feel like a stripper. I prefer pants with a waist just loose enough to kind of float with suspenders. I wear Filson Double Tins, vintage Duxbak, or Orvis KHP Marsh pants (copies of the Duxbak). The Duxbak and reproductions are my favorite. I've been wearing them since I was a kid.

These are the Orvis version.

Jack's hunting company offers briar proof clothes. I ordered the pants for early season.

Filson is definately first rate stuff but stiff to the point of being uncomfortable to me. They may improve after break in but I have no idea how long that would take. I have just gone with some wrangler jeans with cordura facing one them. Mine are about 5 years old and still in good shape. I get then at outlet stores and for the price difference i could buy several pairs so it really comes down to filsons would have to last 25+ years to make the cost comparable. I don't know about you but unfortunately my pants from 25 years ago don't fit anymore the danged washer shrunk them all. ;^)

Mine too!
I like and use Filson, but rabbit and bird hunters here who really beat the brush and briers, including me, pick Mule Hunting clothes. Just another option.
My brother has a set of Mule bibs and coat. They are a real value. I am considering a set for next season. I outgrew my Duxbak and for several years did not rabbit hunt. The coyotes almost wiped them out. Now that rabbits are making a small comeback, I find my gear to be less than ideal.
