I need a new collar for my Brittany, my Sportdog model will
not hold a charge, has worked well. I don't want to break the
budget, maybe spend up to $200.00

What do you guys like?
I've always had great luck with Tri-tronics. I got the models that have a two mile range and have never been disappointed. However Garmin bought them out a few years ago and a friend of mine who bought one of the Garmin/Tri-tronics collars and thought it was junk(very low stimulation levels was his complaint - if your dog doesn't need much stimulation that may not be an issue for you.) Not sure which model it was.

I know a coupe of people who use Dogtra and are happy with them.

There is an online dealer that sells used/reconditioned e-collars. Won't mention any names but the breeder suggessted one when I got my first hunting dog and he had had good luck with them.

I think you may need to spend more than $200 to get a good collar. I haven't really kept track of what's available right now as my Tri-tronics is still running strong and I don't feel any need to replace it. Amortized over the life of the dog they really don't cost that much. Good luck in your search.
TriTronics/Dogtra are the picks of the litter in E collars IME.

I would be gun shy of "used" E collars, unless you know the seller very well.
I found out, that you can replace the batteries.

I will try that first, the collar works fine.
I have a DT Systems SuperTrainer and could not be happier.

I'm still using the same Tri Tronics I bought 11 years ago.

And it gets used a lot. Heck, its outlived a couple of my dogs.

I had a TriTronics Pro G2 that lasted me for 10 years. I now have a (Tritronics/) Garmin Pro 550 that is working fine after two years. I have never had to use more than a level 2 for either of my two English setters. When I go to field trials (only to watch!) most of the folks there have Tritronics or Garmin, as do most of the trainers I've ever met. When I have asked why not Dogtra the answer generally had something to do with life of the unit.
Have had a Garmin Delta for a few years now that sees almost daily use. I have no complaints whatsoever.
