Have a chance to pick up a 1995 T100 4CYL 2WD 122,000 miles and on very good condition from a friend's father known to take good care of his equipment. I am seriously considering it as a run around town slash light duty pickup truck. The only thing I tow is a bbq smoker that weighs about 2500 pounds.

Any known issues with these trucks in the 4cyl 5speed single cab configuration?

I had a 98 [last year of production] and it was the single best truck I ever owned.

I drove it 250K with two sets of plugs and a brake job. When I bought a new Taco in 05, my neighbor ran over and paid me a good price for the T100. They have added a 100K and this year put a U joint in it for lack of lube. It still starts and runs great and the body is still sound.

They do not have a lot of power but enough for a run around rig. I pulled a 1400 pound boat/trailer 600 miles each way to the fishing hole.

Ya everything I've read so far on them is positive, I only tow my cookery about 6 or 7 times a year and generaly not real far. At 25-28mpg I could really save some gas money over my 89 350tbi gmc

The T100 was the forerunner (pun) of the Tundra. My V-8 4X4 is the 1st year production, 2000, and received Motor Trend's Truck of the Year award. A great truck!

Matt, better grab it from what I have heard!

A friend in Canada drove one from about 1997 to about 2007 when it was in an accident and written off.

My friend said it was a fantastic truck although not overly powerful -- so it sounds like it would meet your needs well.

edited to add: My friend's truck was a 4wd, but I do not know what engine he had.

I had a 95 T100 but it was a V6, 4WD. My ONLY complaint was the brakes system. It would warp the rotors every 10-15K. I did not tow much back then, only a 16ft boat that weighed a total of 1000 pounds. I don't go flying up to stop signs or red lights either. Other than that, it was rock solid in every other way.

Going to test drive it sunday. Anybody know of a good aftermarket limited slip or locker for the rear? I can get to about 95% of where I want to hunt with a 2wd and positraction.

*looks like Detroit makes a True Trac for the rear on the T100, might have my own 'prerunner'

Had a 1996 and put 176,000 trouble free miles on it. I'd buy another for the kids if I could find the right one. Great trucks.

Drove the truck today, was pretty impressed. Its in awesome shape for its age. Found out it was wrecked in 96 and has a rebuilt "blue" title. Took a very long test drive 60 miles on the interstate and 10 miles through downtown Birmingham. Drove/rode/handled great. Here are a few pics I took:

The hood wasn't shut all the way in a few pics. I can get the truck for $2500. Gonna square a few things away this week and probably buy it next weekend.

I had a salvage titled ford expedition I drove for 50,000 miles before I traded out of it. Still wish I had it. As long as the salvage title is that old, most bugs are gone. I've found the top end on newer salvage titles is a little less than trade0in. A vehicle this old, I have no clue. Sounds like a good dependable truck and that long bed is a thing of the past.

Great trucks, and that one looks very clean.

Buy and don't look back.

I had a 93 t100 long bed, but it was 4wd. For a runaround rig like your talking, its PERFECT. It's exactly what I would look for.

I had a 97 T-100, 4x4, and loved it. It was very solid and refined. I think you'll love yours...

Update, I bought the truck and I'm loving it. Got hit head on .five days after I bought it. Very little damage, waiting on the police report on that one. Pulled a two axel 16 ft trailer loaded with furniture a good bit in our move last weekend. Feels like a great commuter truck, not a hard use towing truck but perfect for my everyday needs.
