Thinking about doing the deletes(DPF & EGR) on my 2012 Ram Cummins.
Anyone done them on here ?
Risks ?
Rewards ?
Real tired of all that soot being dumped in my crankcase, and < 2,000 mile oil change intervals.
Got an oil change light at 1,400 miles this last time !!!
I know about the warranty issue,I'm @ 50,000 miles.
Everything clogged up @ 42,000 and cost $1200.00 at the dealer to clean it all out.
What warranty !!!
I admittedly do a LOT of idleing, always on high idle, but I do quite a bit of pretty heavy towing too.

It's getting a little tricky, the EPA is supposedly trying to get customer lists from the parts suppliers.
I'd hate to have spent $6,000 on a delete, and then have to spend $10,000 to put it back on.....
If you can source the parts local, cash leaves not trail. Just stating the obvious.

if you kept your parts , it should be about zero to put the stuff back on
the fines the EPA could hit you with might be the hard part to take.........
I guess the POS heard me post this thread,
The dreaded P049D code that cost me $1200 bux last time !
F&%# the EPA,those damn parts are falling off soon!!
I done my 08, zero problems since, alot more power and much better fuel economy, I was skeptical at first, did deletes 20k miles ago, all is well in cumminsville now.
You will not find anyone who has done a delete (with good tunes) and regret the decision. It would be a bit of a PITA though for those areas with regular emission inspections. Keep the original exhaust in the event you trade at a dealership.
Cost for exhaust (down pipe back), EGR blocker plate, labor and EFIlive (programmed) is around $1250. There are several good tuners across the country to use. You can find these tuners on any of the diesel forums.
he says he does ALOT of idling, could be part of the trouble
not a good idea with any diesel , but especially not a good idea with a DPF equipped smogged diesel

in the words of my 12 year old, who would also realize this as bullchit... WHAT EVER!
Did it.
Not even the same truck !!!
Went from 16 mpg on the highway to nearly 20.
When at low rpm,it pulls strong instead of mushing around.
Sounds nice too,I did go with a muffler, all stainless from turbo back.
Sorry I waited so long !!
Mike
Cost? Did you do the work yourself?
2390 bux including the Raceme tuner out the door.
Kept all my old parts.
