Look great, perform poorly.
Yup, you hit that one right on, they look tough in a parking lot on a shiny 4x4, but if you want tires that work in mud get Interco TSL's, or TSL LTB's or TSL Boggers

This is a Thornbird...
This is an LTB
Pretty obvious which one will work & which one turns into a slick in the mud...

Add to that: Too soft, too expensive, low mileage capability and ,mainly and more importantly for why you would buy that category of tire ,,,,, non-performers.
Have 2 friends that bought 2 sets together on a "good deal" (and it was a good deal) but pulled them off and sold them.

Thornturds are fine for mall crawlers, but not good in mud. I currently have Super swamper Trxus MT on my truck and have been quite pleased. But Cooper tires is a discover STT that has really cought my eye lately.
