It looks like my 1999 Nissan Frontier has reached the end of its useful days. Before it dies at some inconvenient place in the middle of nowhere, I'm looking for a replacement. I have a line on a 2002 Toyota Tundra SR5 with 180K miles that I think that I could buy for $5K, maybe a little less. It looks good and is the the extended cab Access style with a V8, A/T, etc., and looks good.

If anybody has any experience with this vehicle, I'd appreciate hearing about any quirks they might have or specific things to look for.
I have the same model and I am the original owner.Mine has 193,400 miles. This truck is by far the best truck I have ever owned.I had a fuel pump and three O2 sensors replaced under warranty.I had front brake pads replaced once, still running on original rear brakes, serpentine belt replaced, radiator replaced(top tank seal started leaking),replaced timing belt and gears as preventative maintenance, replaced shocks and struts, spark plugs, tires, batteries and fluids and that's it.Nearly 15years of driving this truck with really very little problems in that length of time and it still drives and runs good.Oh yeah,my bank account loves it too.
Well, I drove about 40 miles to look at it this morning and the seller was, shall we say, very optimistic about its condition, or at least his definition of "really nice" and mine aren't in the same zip code. When a seller claims that the vehicle was driven by a "non-smoker", I would assume that it was regularly driven by a non-smoker, rather than occasionally, and therefore wouldn't have the seats, carpet, and headliner spotted with cigarette burns. Never assume nothing.
Ouch
That being said, keep looking for a 1st generation Tundra. Great trucks
These with autos just a heads up.
The radiator core is popular to fail with the internal tranny cooler filling tranny with anti freeze. Just a heads up for current and prospective owners....
