Picked up my 2dr., long bed on the 18th in Kellog, ID. It had 14 miles on it then. When I got home on Thursday, the odometer read 1058.
I still have a CTD that I bought in november of 1988, the year they came out. The new ones are QUITE an improvement. My old one has 301,000 miles on it and still works fine. E
Stay away from Badger. He will corrupt you and help you "fix" your truck to make it the way Dodge should have made it at the factory.........
Check. You seem to have some ideas about "fixing a Chevy". If I'd have bought a Chevy, he'd be warning me about you, right ? I'm just a mild mannered old guy who is kinda scared already with all the improvements
I'm too shy to improve anything. E
Yeah right. We all said that when we first bought our trucks. It is addicting. It all starts when that little turd kid in his little turd rice-burner cuts you off for the third time and you've had enough. Next stoplight you lay him to waste, teaching him what a modern, power-enhanced turbo diesel can do. It is downhill form there..................
Yup...
Blaine, check out the Torque numbers on this one

"I just got home from Floor-It and its late so Im going to be short.

659.3 horsepower

1534 torque

Stock cp3, stock injectors....

Diesel only

Ill post the graph and more tomorrow.

Oh my god !!! I'm still in transition from the original 160 HP and 400 of torque with a top end of no more than 2500 rpm. It served me very well, both on and off road since Nov. of 1988.
Heck, I'm reluctant to try shifting the big 6 spd fast enough to blow anybody's doors off with what "little" I have now.
I'd better watch myself around here. You guys are hard core ! E
Badger,

That is about as much HP as I have heard from anyone running just #2.

This Oct I am having my trans beefed with a Suncoast Stage IV, which means I can run about as much as I want. With the box I have I should be able to hit 450 RWHP/ 900ish ft lbs without having to add a second lift pump. I can buy a program that will get me to 500 RWHP but I would need to add another lift pump. If I put that much fuel through the engine EGTs would be scary unless I went with an aftermarket turbo.

So for now, I plan to run around the 450 RWHP level with one lift pump and a stock turbo. I may add a boost enhancer valve which allows a quicker spool up and slightly more boost, but it isn't smart to run a stock DMax turbo past 30 PSI, and 28 PSI is a much safer bet. The factory limits them to about 25 PSI. The stock DMax turbo is water cooled and I hate to give up that feature with an aftermarket turbo since this is my daily driver. I don't want to have to let the engine idle for two minutes each time I have to shut the truck off.

I am now running 4.1 gears with my 315s, and the truck likes it very much. I expect fuel mileage to improve but I won't know until I put a couple more tanks though it. The 295s were fine with the stock 3.73 gears, but the 315s killed it even with my chip set at 90 HP. With the 4.10s, I am running 100-150 degrees cooler EGT, and I only gained about 200 rpm at 80 mph.

Nobody ever accused me of being smart My stock turbo is huffing away at 39-40lb right now. I know I'll probably need a bigger one soon

Man, that is a tremendous amount of torque for a stock turbo and injectors. You should be featured in one of the diesel truck magazines.

Take it easy on guys like Emericus and me. These 06 2500s take some getting used to. We're not trying to outrun the turds in their rice burners, we're just trying not to run them over by accident and not even notice unless we're in top gear! I would be dangerous with that kind of power on tap.

Thats not me in the post. My truck puts out a wimpy 502 HP & 1060lb/ft

It seems that 500 RWHP is about the limit of reasonably easily obtainable, reliable, streetable HP for either the Cummins or DMax. Much more power is available, but it goes beyond just a simple power box or programmer with a single lift pump and stock turbo.

659.3 horsepower and 1534 ft lbs of torque on #2 is an amazing accomplishment. Am anxious to hear all the details...........
