I'll be hunting Colorado elk during the 2nd gun season this fall and need some new pants. I can't decide between the attack pant or the guide pant.

Does anyone have any advice as to which I should go with? And I only have enough $$$ to go for one of them.

I'd go attack and layer up underneath if you need to if weather get's cold. I don't think there is a significant difference in performance (shedding water, quick drying, etc.) but the attack will breath a bit better and IMO is more versatile....that said, I have both.

Better yet if you wear a 32, 38 or 40 waist they have a few pairs in the outlet for $115.

I do or have owned just about every premium brand of outerwear, REI, Patagonia, TNF, Arcteryx, Mountain Hardware, Marmot and Sitka.

The toray fabric used in the attack and guide series is probably the best I have ever seen. My pants took a beating on a 10 day horsback hunt last fall in BC, and despite 9 days worth of dirt, mud, horse hair and sweat build up they still beaded and shed water like they were fresh off the shelf.

A buddy of mine has both up in Alaska. The Attack pant is designed for everyday use and will stand up to the occasional shower. The Chugach lineup (most expensive) is made for those all day rains. He has used both extensively and likes them a lot.
Both can be layered and also remember that the Attack pant has even waist sizes whereas the Chugach is sized S,M,L,XL.

He's asking about the guide pant, not the chugach. Kuiu added a pant that is the same material as the guide coat whereas the attack was a touch lighter. The attack and guide are nearly the same function just different weights.

I have used the Attack pant into January in New Mexico and Colorado. Fantastic gear.

I think I'm leaning towards the Attack pant based on the responses. I've heard a couple people say the material was a little loud. Are they just being picky?

They must be VERY picky as I don't find the material loud at all!

Yes. I don't find them to be too loud and I use them for archery hunting.

This will be my third year hunting 2nd Rifle Elk in Colorado. I bought a pair of Kuiu Attack pants with the intent to layer under them on cooler days. I also snagged a Kuiu Guide jacket. If the Guide pants are as heavy as the Guide jacket, they might be a bit warm for the 40*F to 60*F afternoons that can happen in early 2nd rifle.

I also purchased a pair of Sitka Ascent pants. This year I am doing my own side by side comparison of Sitka Ascent vs Kuiu Attack pants, and, polypro versus merino base, to see what works best for me.

Attack pants with a set of knenetrek gaiters. Great combo.

I bought a pair of Sitka Timberline pants cheap on ebay awhile back and really like them.

Thanks for the info guys. I ordered the guide vest and am going to call in and pre order the Attack Pant. They don't have my size or color in stock. Hopefully they get some in in the next month or so.

Carharts... used correctly they can be quite the advantage whilst calling...
