I do this each year it seems. I am about to bust right now... This week I'm headed to the hospital for thyroid surgery (fingers crossed that it's benign. Lift me up in prayer if you choose to do so.)and then in 2-3 weeks headed to New Mexico for opening week of gun season.
Best of luck to everyone. Travel safe and shoot straight!

Thanks for the pics and good luck with your surgery.
Thanks. Please add your photos folks!
God bless and good fortune Go.
Bigswede how or where did you get that elk hoof on your rifle?
I like, I want
New Mexico native here. I sure do miss those sunsets but these Arizona ones will have to do. Bull tag in 10 in 3 weeks for me. I think I am more excited that my 9 yr old is dying to go. This will be her first hunt so I hope she still has the fever when its all said and done. Beat wishes for the OP.

I just cut out a hoof from some heavy duty paper, sprayed with Krylon Fusion, and then sprayed on some clear sealant. Pretty easy to do and you can make anything you want.
Ok, I'm in the rut now
How about this little dink?
I was already in the mood, good luck on your surgery and to all others this fall.
Beautiful animals living in beautiful places.
Here's a fresh one - Monday AM. Montana.
That's what I'm talking about!
Awesome bull.
You two are like machines.
thats an awesome bull greenhorn!
Wow guys thanks; I've never been elk hunting but am scouting an area this year in hopes of finding an area for the next few years! These are mighty inspiring!
Holy Crap! Nice job man... what your choice of Broad-heads?
Congrats greenhorn, that is a monster!
Great pics. Thanks for adding to my thread. Got out of thyroid surgery and am laid up for two weeks. No straining of any kind for two weeks. Our bow season starts here Saturday. No shooting bows, no climbing trees, no driving. If I pop my surgical site, it's back in the hospital and no elk hunt in October. For once in my life I'm paying strict attention to doc and my wife. The surgeon was leaning towards benign but making sure with an additional independent lab on my sample. Lost half my thyroid...but then again, I got to keep the other half!
Zero exercise for two weeks...I should be in sorry shape for the mountains, buy by God I'll be out there amongst em!
That looks like the N Idaho I know! Nice bull!
Thick, steep, and infested with wolves?
