So my Tikka loves the Berger 130 gn VLD. Does anyone have any experience using it on Elk? I'm dealing with yet another work related injury and suddenly my 35 Whelen is not an option with my bum shoulder.

STS45 I havent used the 130 grain Berger but I have used the 140 Grain in my 264 win mag. I've shot Elk from 45yds to 425yds and they performed great. I never had to follow up with a second shot. they all dropped in their tracks. The Berger VLD is a great bullet and in your 270 winchester the 130 grain will do fine. best of luck on your hunt.

Awesome. I have heard conflicting reports and have no first hand experience with this bullet. I had planned to use it for Coues deer in AZ in late October but I think I'll just stick with it for cow elk next week too.
