One of the guys I work with grew up near Eastport and has asked if I wanted go this year, do any of you have any info on this part of Idaho. It will be the rifle hunt starting October 10th,
Thanks Scott
Eastport is about ¼ or ½ mile south of the B.C., Canada, border and about six miles west of the Montana state line. You'll be hunting in the Kaniksu Nat'l. Forest. My neighbor used to live in that area and the elk hunting was good, but I've heard there has been a lot of wolf activity in that area.

Might watch out for Griz, too.

Good luck.

Take a step ladder as the country is all straight up.

super steep with lots of downed timber. Used to be really good elk country up there. There are still elk but a lot driven down to lower farm land to escape wolves
Yes, steep lots of of blow down timber. Head up copper cr road a ways just before eastport to get out of the steepness.

Lots of elk in that country, along with other hunters and wolves grin
