Those were 300 grain Hornady Round Nose Interlocks. On the extreme light side, it also functions on 137 grain Hammers. That would be a Tack Hammer, not a Jack Hammer.
I have a 444 Marlin Rifle, first year production, that 444 in the AK would be a #1 bad adz. Shot a few deer with mine, with 4064, you do not need to worry about the chest cavity, the 240gr with the 444 turns the insides of the cavity to soup and blows it all morth of the diaphragm, out the back side. Would be a deluxe hog stomper. We have some large hogs, like 4-600 pounders here bouts. I have a 445 DW that likes 300s. Muzzle flash like a 30 gal drum.
That 444 looks awesome. I could have a lot of fun with that shooting my 310g cast powder coated bullets. I made up a bunch an sized and gassed checked them only to find my 329pd doesn't like them. I've been using them in my marlin 444p outfitter but they'd get used quicker in an ak.
Would have been nice if he had included some sort of accuracy expectation. Interesting toy he built , if it has reasonable accuracy it could be a gotta have it thing Kenneth
Yes, you can shoot 375 spitzers but they need to be seated pretty deep to fit in the magazine. The 444 is just the opposite. It works best with FTX type bullets seated long.

I miss my .375 JDJ Encore barrel, and your version is is flat out cool. If I could run 235 gr Speers I'd be pretty happy. I really liked 260 AB in my JDJ, but if mag length is an issue the Speers would still hammer.
