I just picked up a RRA w/ a .458 Socom upper and was wondering if anyone is shooting one and what there thought were; Hunting, Target shooting, problems etc.
i have one. not legal to hunt with in this state. it is accurate and fun to thump objects with. the biggest problem is recovering those cases that get thrown from the gun. i have been considering jumping through the hoops and getting a suppressor for it.
why can't you hunt with it? I would think it would be more than adequate for deer. in fact I bet it would whop the snot out of em. I know in many states there is a limit to mags, I'm sure you could put in a block to only allow 3 or 4 rounds.

Mild 45/70 load power equivelent. THe barnes 300gr TSX and TTSX are very good out of it and when suppressed the 500gr hornady RN works very well. I have been thinking about getting one for backup work and bear baiting. Better bullet availability than the 50 boewolf and a couple of places to get brass, starline being the most conviencetnt.
Thanks for the input, I bought it for pig hunting down here in Florida. The gun is compact and very light I have an Eotech on it for close work. I have a couple of boxes of Corbon's ammo is anyone else loading the ammo or going too.
I love the cartridge. I have a custom built .458 socom. I have shot several deer with mine with great success out to 200 yards. I have also shot 3 pigs with mine. The biggest one weighed 211 lbs. and it did a number on him. I reload for it. I am loading the 325 grain Hornady FTX bullets behine H110 powder with great results. EXTREMELY accurate too.
