Anyone running a 2.5x8 Nikon 223 on there AR? Looking to up the power on my AR a bit, was leaning in the direction of a VX-III 2.5x8 but thought I would give these a look too. An info out there?

what is that? Are you reffering to the BDC?

I think he is referring to the new 2012 M-223 2.5-10 Laser IRT. I have personally put 1000 rounds of .223 and 1000 rounds of .308 under this scope using DPMS Oracle Rifle's and both rifles and Scope worked flawlessly. Being able to move the laser from one target to another and get an accurate reading then utilizing the BDC reticle is Spot On.
Here's a pic from my long day att he range. The barrel of the .308 got so hot it literally melted the plastic on my shooting rest.

This the scope i use on my AR in 6.8 SPC. Great scope , you can't go wrong with it. I had the Leupold 2.5x8 on it but switched to the M-223

Thanks bea175, are you running the BDC or standard duplex? I have always thought the BDC style reticle was busy and I will most likley shoot 68 grn not a 55.

BDC. Forget the chart and just shoot at different distant and find out where each circle hits with your load

It is as bright that is for sure and may be the Monarch with Target Turrets.

Yes, the M is for Monarch. Guys, I know it nmight be hard to believe but I have been involved with a few large groups of new to our BDC scopes and our Spot On Ballistic Program and let me tell you , combined, they work. In fact the owner of this site came ot one of our shoot's and was blowing up 4 inch jars of Tannerite at 623 yards with stock rifles.
If you want to shoot 68 grin bullet's , just plug that info into Spot On.

Computer Programs may be close or right on , but nothing works better than actual shooting at different ranges with the load you are going to use.

bea, You are preaching to the choir. Everythign you can learn here or from the computer is mute if you don't get some range time. This proved to be true this year for me more then any other. I got my 76 year old father in law tot he range 3 times before our Kansas deer hunt. Last time he shot a box of shells and got zero! This time, 3 shell's a nice buck and 2 meat doe's. No substitute for practice!

The M 223 2-8 is a great scope, really bright, holds zero and tracks well too.
The turrets turn VERY easily. If you ride with it much in a truck or are taking it in and out of a case a bunch you have to look at those turrets every time. They will get turned to a new setting very quickly. Only downside of those scopes that I have found.

Negative on zero stops. Lift and set type deal, no set screws no zero stop.

Correct, no zero stops. Fortunately even with all my shooting/driving I have never had a problem. I do always take a glance at turret's when I remove my rifle from the case.

The only time i have had mine move was climbing my latter stand and the rifle was hanging from a single point sling and my heavy coat move it three clicks, but since i keep them set on zero i knew it as soon as i charged the rifle in the stand. I just clicked them back to zero. No big deal.

I had one for a while but the windage turrets kept moving so the scope had to move as well. I like the scope and it except for that problem it was a quality product.

Just so happens I got one of the 2.5-10 laser rangefinding Nikons last week, got to try it out on the prairie dogs this weekend. Good solid integral mount with clear optics, easy focus, good light gathering charachteristics. Not nearly as heavy as one would expect; weighs about the same as the 6-24 Burris it replaced. Never liked the Burris much, anyway.

The laser reflects and reads off of surprisingly small targets (eg prairie dogs) at ranges up to 400 yards which was the farthest I tried it. It may be good for longer, don't know yet. The BDC seems to be dead on but the final word is not out on that yet since I was not at my best for the longer shots...there was a toothy cold 20mph wind blowing that day and brainy me was badly underdressed for laying about on the ground. Have to re-evaluate when I'm not shivering so much. So far, tho, I like this product alot.
