I saw one today, its lighter and shorter than my MP10! I am having uncontrollable thoughts about trading guns.

I'm either getting one of those or the Ruger 762.

the G2 is sooooo light!

I'd give them a little more time and see if it catches on. The .308 AR market has largely drifted to the DPMS (old style) and SR-25 style parts and receiver heights. Even Armalite has come back and now offering DPMS/SR-25 pattern magazines. I would hold off on jumping on the DMPS GII bandwagon until it is proven to be a more reliable setup and aftermarket parts support is out there. The GII rifles may just be the way of the future for the .308. However, I'd feel more comfortable knowing that's where the market was headed before investing in a new platform.

I have handled them and they are nice. I just wouldn't want to buy one and then DPMS change something again like they have in the past.

what could they change?

I'm covered on .308's at the moment, so not me.

They changed or offered 2-3 different receiver heights on the LR models.

I'd be very interested in a G2 Hunter in 243 or 6.5Creedmoor, maybe even a 7mm-08. My current 308 fits my needs perfectly, but a lighter rifle for field use in a lighter caliber would be a great addition.

I'm strongly considering it.

May have to trade in the L1a1.

I am going to wait and see... and hope for an 18" version later this year.

I could get into a lightweight .243.

another knowledgeable member here discussed the screw attached feed ramps in a private message. Sure enough the feed ramps are attached with what appears to be tiny Allen head screws.

the feed ramps will see repeated battering from firing, not sure this screw on strategy is appropriate.

The receiver looks good, well made, the barrel looks fine, all things look good on the G2 except these feed ramps which for me could be a deal killer. One of them little screws comes out, the thing rotates in place a bit, and then what?

Here is another thing to ponder, Remlin is famous for snatchin' the rug out from under GOOD products, much less something that might be problematic.

That is just plain flat bizarre. How and where could a person possibly need a set screw in a feed ramp? I assume the barrel extension is in fact threaded and screwed onto the barrel??? Gonna need to see a picture or two to sort that one out.

to continue this idea, looking at the feed ramps in my MP10 which are cut into the upper receiver and are anodized aluminum, shows zero wear and the gun has been fired somewhere over 200 rounds maybe 400 don't keep track.

Would love to put 50 or so rounds thru the DPMS to see how it shoots, I feel the MP10 is I think about a (5 shot) 1 1/4 MOA gun on average.

I have no idea how a Ruger 308 would compete accuracy wise but if it were 3 MOA average I personally would not be interested.

well DPMS says that the metal feed ramps have been tested for 3 years with no problems arising...

...and they claim its a 1 MOA or better gun....
