Friend who has fallen on hard times has asked me to help him sell a couple of firearms - one of which is a near-new Arsenal SA93. This is a Bulgarian-made AK variant with a milled (not stamped) receiver, 16 inch barrel and thumbhole wood stock. It has been called the "gold standard" of AK's.

My problem is that I'm not an AK guy - I don't know how much it is worth and I don't want to throw up an ad that says, "make an offer".

Anyone know what the market value is these days?

its what its worth to you in my opinion. A decent AK sells for $700, your sure as hell not paying for accuracy with the thing so I cant figure why one is worth $1300 and one $500. I have had some and I don't get the attraction other than the mystique of the gun. They are of no use to me.

An Arsenal SA93 in excellent condition should bring around $800 to $1000. They are nice AK's and a real bargain for the guy's looking for milled rifles.

That's an old school Arsenal model and I'd argue it's better built than current offerings. If you have all of the OEM extras and packaging and you post the WTS on the right forum you might be able to pull closer to $1200 for it.

Thanks!

SA93 is probably the best AK that has been available in America. Mine is easily the most accurate and reliable AK I have ever owned, and I have gone through a pile of them.
Around here, a decent condition SA93 will be in the $1200 dollar range these days. Not many wind up for sale though.

Sam that gun is you dude!

It is easily worth $1,200 to $1,500 depending on condition.

Just curious, where are these high numbers coming from? Most I see for sale draw around $800-$900. What am I missing here? Now I'm not talking about asking price but actual sales price.

around North Central Florida, those prices are what the gun sells for at LGS and gun shows.
We all know that there are regional variances on actual sell prices. Florida is usually high.

Yep. +1 ^^^^
Posted By: TC1 Re: Arsenal SA93 - 01/27/15
Hmmm, if there is that big of a price difference I would just buy one on line and have it transferred in.

To the OP. The best way to determine a fair market value of anything is to look around at a few that actually sold and what they actually sold for.

Example 1 $730 a little rough

Example 2 $850 looks nice

Example 3 $899

Example 4 $850

Example 5 $1300 (no sale)

Example 6 $755 current price

Now don't get wrong, I'm sure at this point you probably think I don't like SA93 but I do. I really like the Bulgarian Arsenal SA93 and they are a bargain. I've spent time behind one and liked it alot. That said anything over a $1000 and I can buy a NIB Bulgarian Arsenal SAM7R for that and most people would. It's not a post ban rifle and is setup like it should be out of box. The quality is about the same for both rifles.

I love the enthusiasm and it's worth what someone will give you for it. You can ask anything you want for it. Put a $1500 price on it if you feel that's what it's worth. Just don't be surprised if it doesn't sell.

I'd take the SA93 over the SAM7 all day, every day.

I wouldn't nor would the vast majority. That isn't a knock to the Arsenal SA93. It's a nice AK.

Do you have a link to any that actually sold for the $1500 you say they are worth? The guy was looking for a realistic price not biased praise. I love the enthusiasm but it and actual market value aren't the same thing.

Posted By: ULA24 Re: Arsenal SA93 - 01/31/15
I think you are wrong, I think most would take an SA93 over the SAM7. I have both, and I assume you don't, or you would probably agree. The SA93 is the better rifle.
Posted By: TC1 Re: Arsenal SA93 - 01/31/15
I have owned a SAM7R and spent a little time firing an Arsenal SA93. Both are nice AK's. They probably came out of the same factory built with the same tools. I personally didn't see anything about the SA93 that made it a better rifle. Both were milled receiver rifles with about the same degree of fit and finish which is excellent for an AK-47. Neither operated any different or smoother than the other nor could I see any difference in accuracy from one to the other. One is neutered in a post ban configuration which will cost about $500 to have corrected if you desired and the other one isn't, it's ready to go out of the box.

Now, if money was an issue the Arsenal SA93 can be had at a better price and a minty SA93 would be a bargain in a milled rifle. Here is a perfect example: http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=464819542

If you laid both rifles in front of me and asked which one I wanted I would pick the SAM7R every time and I think the vast majority of people would too. When I got ready to sell my SAM7R the owner of the Arsenal SA93 that I had shot a little tried to trade his SA93 with cash to boot for my SAM7R but I didn't do it. It wasn't so much that I didn't like his rifle it was that A. at the time I wanted out of AK-47's and B. if I ever got back into them I wanted stamped and not milled rifles from now on. At that time Arsenal USA had ceased importing milled rifles and was concentrating on the SLR and SGL lines of stamped rifles. When they did that the used Arsenal milled rifle prices went through the roof for about a year and I cashed in.

I'm personally not a big fan of milled rifles anymore anyway. Right now I'm down to one AK-47, an Arsenal SGL-20 which fills my needs and wants perfectly.

The OP asked for a realistic price (market value) on an Arsenal SA93 and I gave that, even showed examples. Now, I know you like your rifle but, can you show me one example of one Arsenal SA93 that sold for the $1500 you say it's worth? Probably not. Sometimes we let enthusiasm cloud our better judgement.
