My wife and I treated ourselves to new AR's over the weekend. She got a Sig Sauer M400 Muddy Girl and I got a 516 Patrol. Picked up some M855 ammo for right now.

Question, what factory ammo shoots good with the 1-7 twist. Also what bullet for reload would you recommend.

I can see a caliber conversion kit for my Dillon 650 in the near future. grin

One of my guns is a SIG 400 & it's been a very reliable & reasonably accurate gun, though it does not have a free floated barrel.

Mine shoots 55 gr stuff at about 1.25-1.5" with a 6x scope at 100 yds.

Also shoots 69 & 77 gr SMK's about the same out to 300 yards........that the longest range I've shot it at.

The 1-7" twist will usually handle bullets down to 50 gr OK, but will generally be less fussy with the stuff 55 gr & over.

55 gr is the lightest I've used or intend to use, in that gun. If I want to shoot the lighter bullets, I use a different rifle that has a 1-9" twist.

Thanks MM,
My wife will be an occasional shooter so I'll let her shoot the factory M855. I bought a box of Sierra 77 Mk to work up a load for my 516. I got AR comp, Power Pro 2000-MR, and Varget. Time to do some load development and see how it shoots.
