Depends.

Are you looking to maximize your take, or provide a service to short sighted gun buyers?

I'm going to be cynical and wonder, since this is your first post and having registered 2 weeks ago, if you are trolling for buyers without posting an ad, per se.
Posted By: wareagle700 Re: AR panic buying ? - 06/21/16
I'll bet you they aren't sold out. Probably just holding some in the back until people get desperate so they can jack up the price.

The ole "Cheaper Than Dirt" technique.

Was in KC this past weekend. Stopped into Cabelas and saw the fewest buyers(0) there I have ever seen on a weekend. Went to to an indoor range/gun shop on Saturday morning. No big run on black guns there, either. In fact saw 0 guns of any kind sold while we were there.

Hang onto the ARs.
Sell all the 22lr. you bought at Walmart.
Posted By: deflave Re: AR panic buying ? - 06/21/16
I have seen no indications of an AR panic.

ARs are still on the racks locally, but suppressors are nearly all gone, with no backorders in sight.
Posted By: rost495 Re: AR panic buying ? - 06/21/16
Suppressor issue is likely due to the almost deadline bull shti about trusts... I'd bet.

I wanted to do the papers for 2 SBRs before that timeline got here to ad to my trust... it won't happen... just no time..
Posted By: RipSnort Re: AR panic buying ? - 06/21/16
I've been in two large, local gun stores this week and they have the same ARs gathering dust that have been there for months. No customers but me in either store. I asked what was selling and it was the usual suspects: G19, Shield, VP9, J-frame.

Yeah, its slowed down the process for sure.

As for your SBR's, go ahead and send the forms in. It doesnt have to be approved by July 13, just submitted. The new law doesn't affect anything until after July 13.

Hold them for now.

Inexpensive AR's are being sold everywhere. We're selling over 100 day. The high end stuff is still on the shelf.

Example: We received 189 S&W Sport II's yesterday. Inventory shows 24 now...
Posted By: Steelhead Re: AR panic buying ? - 06/21/16
If you need the money, sell, if you don't, I'd hold on for a bit.
Posted By: oldman1942 Re: AR panic buying ? - 06/21/16
some gunstore owner said on FOX that he had taken orders for 20,000 since Orlando

also said smith and wesson and ruger were on 3 shift seven day a week production on ARs

Same here. Everywhere I've been in the Twin Cities lately have plenty in stock. Lots of ammo too.

Same gun store owner will probably be Fox News describing the "whooshing sound" the tornado made coming through the trailer park...

Local gun stores here are bracing for a rush, but it hasn't materialized yet. Who knows what the next trigger event will be.

I'm getting a full court press from my memberships for donations and to call legislators.

I think the dealers who claim to be selling AR's by the thousands, are simply trying to generate sales.

Get em while they are hot---
Posted By: Stormin_Norman Re: AR panic buying ? - 06/21/16
Palmetto still has $399 kits, but the $350 kits are gone. After the last 7 years, I think most folks are pretty well stocked up.
Posted By: kwg020 Re: AR panic buying ? - 06/21/16
Our LGS still has many AR's on the shelf and in the back room. Unless something big happens real soon, they don't see much moving until the Christmas season. Summer is their slow season and nothing has changed. The market is saturated.

No panic here.

Local stores have AR's, pocket pistols, powder, primers and .22lr all on the shelved.
Posted By: oldman1942 Re: AR panic buying ? - 06/22/16
guess I'll hang on to see if Hillary wins. that will spur sales.

You may need to use them at that point.

I'm not married to the one I have. If another panic ensues and I can realize a 100% profit in selling it, away it goes.
Posted By: David_Walter Re: AR panic buying ? - 06/22/16
they are snapping them up where I live.
Posted By: JoeBob Re: AR panic buying ? - 06/22/16
Stores are still full of them here. Most people who wanted one, have two or three already.
Posted By: exbiologist Re: AR panic buying ? - 06/22/16
I had been meaning to buy one for a while, and the political winds are what made me finally pull the trigger, otherwise I would have waited another year with this baby on the way.
Posted By: hunting1 Re: AR panic buying ? - 06/22/16
SWH racks were picked through. Good deals on Colt 6920's online if you are looking.
Why don't you sit on them a while longer so you can scalp someone a bit closer to the skull bone. My LGS has at least 20 of them at minimum.
Local Fleet-Farm stores appear to be ditching their AR holdings. Wonder if they know something we don't, or if the corporate look on 'black rifles' has changed. 50% off ARs - complete guns, complete lowers and complete uppers - starting tomorrow (6/24/16).

Side note, Mom's B-day is tomorrow. Wonder if she'd like an AR? LOL

Lots of everything available. AR's are dirt cheap and out of favor. I bought an Anderson lower for $35 recently. Plenty of powder, brass and primers. .22 ammo is plentiful, though not at pre O prices.

I was also in Fleet Farm today in West Bend. They had 3 ad's and some Russian wood thing. A month ago there were a lot more of them and half the handguns are gone too now. No 22lr neither.
Reference the thread title change...

After Newtown AR prices and everything associated with them skyrocketed. Then the bottom fell out and for quite a while ARs have been dirt cheap. There are no scalpers and victims now, only people with sense and people that are lazy.
Hold on to them. Really no upside to selling now, unless you need the money.

It's called supply and demand. Buy low when you can and make a profit when demand exceeds supply. Not a thing wrong with it.
No different than investing in stocks....are you a scalper to buy low and sell high in the stocks or just in guns? Lots of folks invest in firearms for retirement.
If I was a scalper, I sure am a bad one. I don't think I ever made any money on anything gun related. I always lose money

You are not alone. smile
Seems to the campfire folk that scalping only occurs when big oil is involved. crazy miles
AR scalpers buying on the hopes of a new massacre. scum.
Nothing will ever come of money gotten that way.

We should go full socialist like Venezuela, where everything is fair and everyone can get whatever they want whenever they want.

Without some capitalism, if things were banned there would be zero supply almost immediately. I personally encourage some speculation, it insures supply in case if disruption although at a higher price.
I personally have seen [bleep] making money on peoples misery and [bleep] venusuala. The recent scum standing outside of sporting goods stores at 7:58AM to rush in and buy all the 22LR's then resell them for double the price is a perfect example.

I blame that on the store.

I don't panic i just build my own AR's .
Posted By: rost495 Re: AR panic buying ? - 06/27/16
Still gotta be able to get parts though... but thats usually easier than guns.

Posted By: oldman1942 Re: AR panic buying ? - 06/27/16
someone is a scalper if he beats you to the store.

if you do it, you are a smart capitalist

by labeling a smart capitalist a scalper, you are playing right into the socialist agenda of having the government control the means of production as well as the distribution of all goods.

back when I made a buck/hour, 22 ammo was 50 cents a box, now that my real income is 30 bucks/hour, it's 5 bucks a box.
the problem is ?

http://www.foxbusiness.com/features...30000-ar-15s-since-orlando-shooting.html
By Nick Giampia Published June 17, 2016 Politics

Since the Orlando shooting, AR-15’s have been a popular selling item in many gun stores across the country.

An AR-15 is a semi-automatic rifle that was made in 1959 by the Armalite Company.

Hunter’s Warehouse Owner Tom Engle told the FOX Business Network’s Stuart Varney, his online operation consisting of 300,000 to 400,000 weapons has sold 30,000 AR-15’s since Sunday.

Hunters warehouse is a hole in the wall with an inventory that would fit in my truck.
The story is BS
https://hunterswarehouse.com/Product?categoryid=1033

Breitbart fell for it too.
http://www.breitbart.com/big-govern...week-following-orlando-terrorist-attack/

I posted comments at both sites. You can see that Engle is does not have any AR15s for sale. He barely has a fishing pole for sale.

Many hours later neither organization has pulled the fake story.
I am disappointed in FOXNEWS and Breitbart.
