my usual source is out, looking for the 1200 round case, or PMC M193 not their 223 ammo.
I believe Mark at Summit has some. I've used several cases in Dept. Sig 556's and it is good, accurate ammo.

Out everywhere I normally buy, too, but the Independence brand is made by IMI as far as I know, if you want to go that route.

MM
Ableammo.com has it.
I have not shot any of the independence ammo, can you assume it is the same as the brown cardboard boxes that hold 30 of the IMI cartridges? I guess I can get PMC again, its 3200fps.
Palmetto usually has the Independence stuff at good prices if you watch for the sales the have.
Fiocchi 55gr 50rd box $15.95
jimmyp, let me check my deleted email. Just saw some offered today. May have been CDNN. I'll check.
It was Midway.

Yeah, Midway has IMI, Selway Armory has Independence (IMI).
thanks all, Midway is 41 cents a round plus shipping.

But you get a groovy can.

They are all pretty proud of that stuff. Must be elections.
Palmetto has Independence at $350/k

Isn't it funny what some folks consider accurate and others consider accurate.

I've shot quite a bit of IMI years ago, when we were learning, it was ok, but not accurate overall IMHO.

But then again as you've pointed out, generally don't need what some of us consider to be accurate for most things.

I don't think anyone is touting IMI (or any other factory FMJ) as match grade accurate by any means of the word..........but relative to most other factory FMJ, it's better than most.

MM
I don't shoot IMI because it is more accurate. I shoot it for the brass which is some of the best made.
It has a thicker stronger web that will stand up better to stout loads.

For the conversation, the best I ever shot in 308 was hirtenberger.

In 223 it was stamped FNM.

the fliers in FMJ ammo drive me nuts.

Mexican match works fine though.
This is why I shoot IMI M193, a Colt 6720 pencil barreled carbine with a T2 Aimpoint on top at 100 yards. I can't shoot a red dot any better with better ammo. This was bought at .35 a round.

This is my 6920 with 77 gr NCC reloads and an Aimpoint PRO at 100 yards.

IMI M193 is great practice ammo and it's plenty accurate for that.
It is very good brass.
what is the difference? IMI is M193 and Independence XM193???
Theoretically...
M193 is actual milspec, manufactured for a government contract and meeting all requirements.
XM193 is a commercial clone. May or may not be the exact same as the milspec. In practice I doubt you could tell the difference.

In reality there is no commercial enforcement of the nomenclature.
PMC M193 X-TAC is not milspec, but is some very good stuff.
10-4, I kind of want to practice with the M193. 35 cents a round is reasonable.
If you shoot that X-TAC stuff at night, you won't need a floodlight..........the muzzle flash will light it up.

Anyone use this?

Jimmy,

I haven't shot any but I picked up a bunch of spent cases at the range after this years Shot Show, where they were demoing it. I haven"t reloaded any yet.
It runs heavy, like IMI. Nice heavy web and thick walls at the base. I like that nice radius at the web/wall interface.

The Germans make good stuff, I'd buy it.

I believe I will, I have a line on some Win 3131A but I think I want to try the MEN.
I shot some Geco Swiss made ammo today. Ammo Seek has it listed. It's not quite IMI193 but it's not bad stuff.

you do see a lot of PMC, which works fine nary a misfire, but pretty sure its not as hot as IMI M193.
