Thinking about putting the 3.5x TA110 ACOG on my AR instead of a low-power variable scope. I'm used to fixed power scopes on my hunting rifles, and the FOV of the ACOG, as well as its eye relief and eye box, look pretty good compared to similarly priced low-power variables.

Anyone have experience with this ACOG, or its tritium-powered equivalent the TA11?
Have you handled it on a rifle?

I have t used that model, but have used a TA33, which is supposed to be one of the more forgiving models and it was horrendous. It was like trying to shoot through a drinking straw.
Just checked. It weighs 14oz, has 2.5" of eye relief and the FOV is 29' at 100 yards.

For ACOG money you could get a USO SR4C, for less money could get a Steiner T5XI and for way less you could get a VX6. All for comparable weight, with better eye relief / eye box and 3x the FOV. The VX6 has nearly 4x the FOV.
You're just gonna spend a lot of money and be disappointed. With the low power variables out today, I see no reason to look at ACOG's. and yes, I've used a bunch of them.
I have the Trijicon ACOG 3.5x35 Scope w/ TA51 Mount, Horseshoe .223 Ballistic Reticle TA11H green illuminated. I really never warmed up to it. I usually shoot low or high powered conventional scopes. I guess if I was smashing my equipment in combat, I would appreciate it more. Beside durability, I don't see any real advantage. They do have a big price tag though, mine was 1250 2 years ago, now they are 1360.....
I also have three 1-6 VX6 scopes, and I think they are a better scope for my needs.
Thanks for the feedback guys, anybody have any time behind the Elcan Specter OS 4x?

Guess I stold mine when I got it. Caught it on a sale from dvor and added some dvor bucks. Came to $900.

Yeah, I'm surprised how much they've gone up.

Won't be getting another one at those prices, though. If I was going to spend $1360, I'd just throw a few more on the stack and get one of those compact Leupolds that another member has on his hunting AR. Maybe mudhen? Don't remember off hand. I do remember he found a darn good deal on it.
I have looked through one that belonged to a guy on the local PD, I was not impressed. I think the NF 1-4 NXS is probably a good option for you.
It's an excellent combat scope

It is not a hunting scope

It's not a home defense scope

It belongs on a 308 AR designated marksman rifle

JP rifles makes a model specifically for three gun that may meet your needs

Thanks guys, its looking like a low-power variable is the way to go these days.
