My son has spent the majority of his hunting career shooting H&R/NEF single shot rifles/shotguns. He's killed hogs, bear, and deer, as well as 7 head of African plains game with a handi rifle. Here's a few pics.

I had a RMEF Ultra in 35 Whelen. Never really got into it and traded it off. I currently have a 223 Ultra that shoots pretty decent. I'll be keeping it, since 223 is cheap and fun to shoot.

I have a plain-jane .223 handi with a cheap-o centerpoint scope that will out shoot my buddie's 700 remmy in .270. cool javascript:void(0)And a pardner in 12 ga that kicks like a jackhammer. crazy Already bagged two squirrels with the pardner. grin

And they said Africa couldn't be hunted with a single shot! smile

What calibre was he using? 308? It sure turned the piggy's lungs to jelly.

Randy, the bear and Africa was a 30-06, using 180 gr. Nosler partitions, in Federal factory ammo. The pig and deer are with a 44 mag handi, using 225 gr. Hornady leverevolution factory ammo.

When I got my H&R 006 I used it for everything. It has harvested bear, deer, moose and partridge. They are not pretty but boy they are relliable. Head shot grouse at 20-25 yds is no mean feat.

I like my #1's betteer, but they are no more relliable.

When you headed back to Africa?
Posted By: maddog Re: H&R - 10/16/11
Randy, no Africa plans in the forseeable future. Glad I got to go twice, there may not be a third trip.

Yeah, the pup's name is Ricco. At the time he was 3 mos. old. The company got him to train as a tracking dog. Don't know if he's dead or alive, but the pup rode in the safari car each day. My son got real attached to him, and included him in several photos of his plains game kills.

I got a little H&R Classic Carbine, 45 Colt.

20" blue steel barrel.
Straight grip walnut checkered stock & forend.
Color case hardened reciever & buttplate.
A thing of beauty!

It shoots great and is great fun to shoot.
