Or should I just go with some 20mm objective leupold of some flavor?

Dave - I don't want to hijack your thread but are you using an extension ring on your #1 or just standard rings?
Dave
I'd like to just use standard rings
Dave..i have used a couple of the weaver 1-3's; a couple of years ago Natchez had those on a special promo at about 1/2 price.
decent optics with fairly flat field of view...tracked well, very compact size, but seemed considerably more critical of head/eye position then the leupold 1.5-5x, or the 1-4x. but, it was a clear scope.
i used them on a couple of TC carbines where mounting position was more flexible & stock LOP was shorter compared to the #1....all in all, i'd pick a vari-x II 1-4x over the weaver 1-3x for that use.
IME the scopes with 20mm objective just don't transmit enough light late in the day regardless of brand. I would guess I lose somewhere around 15-30 minutes of hunting during prime time.
My favorite scope on the #1A and RSI is the Leupold 2-7x33 in low or medium rings.
