A couple of projects I've finished in the past few days. .30-06, .50X209, and the Contender is a .357 Max.
Well I like them anyway....
I like them too. Have 3 encores 3 condender rifles and 1 contander handgun.
I like TC's as well. Hope you don't mind me posting a photo of mine.
Very nice.....who made your stock sets?
Thanks Swampman700.
The top set is an Encore 223 full bull with high grade wood from Bullberry. The Contender in the middle has a MGM 22 mag barrel and Bullberry wood. The Encore on the bottom is a factory 22-250 with a Virgin Valley stock set made from Cherry. I know you asked about the stocks but thought I would add a little more detail about these rifles.
Nice set-ups all the way around. Tagged my first deer with a 357 Max this year. Complete pass through, 40 yrd run, venison in the freezer.
I used to have a Bullberry stock just like the middle one in the picture. I loved the feel but was just too pretty of a piece of wood to go banging around in the woods with so I traded it.
Those are nice. I have been a hardcore No. 1 fan for years but after using and seeing my Brother's TC I was impressed.
I'd love to find a 16-16 1/2 inch 222-223 barrel and make a little carbine out of one.
I shot the .30-06 and the Contender this morning and both were very accurate. The Encore shot 3/4" groups with 180 grain Remington Core-Lokt factory ammo at 100 yards. The Contender shot sub-1" groups at 25 yards using .38 Specials (my own loads using bullets that I had cast over Unique) and smaller groups using .357 Magnums.
I just saw your sig line. I'm assigned to the 1st SOW right now.
Cool you must live close by.
I'm in billeting now but buying a house close by.
Once I'm settled we'll have to go shoot sometime.
I traded for a 460 S&W mag that has a muzzle brake soldered on for an overall length of 17". Waiting to see what the fire breathing carbine will do to a pig.
I just got a 24" 28 guage barrel for my G2 Carbine that was apparently made by the old Custom Shop, but had the ventilated rib made and marked by MGM (they confirmed that). Haven't had a chance to shoot it yet, but it locks up great on my G2 frame and is heavy enough that it will swing through a little, unlike my 22" .410 barrel, which is strictly a "poke and shoot" gun.
Can't wait to take the 28 barrel on my next "single shot only" quail hunt next fall!
The barrel I use most is a 16 3/4" .22 WRM by MGM; fits in my backpack. Shoots 3 in about 1 1/4" at 100 yards from a sitting position all day long with ammo it likes. Ground squirrel poison.
