Just checking to see if any of these are in the "pipeline" yet?
Ha Ha! laugh Last year was the 1-A in .222 Rem, and the year before that was the 6.5 Creedmoor. I've not seen either of those, YET! whistle
I asked the LGS to check last Saturday and he could not find any at any of the distributors that he queried. He he said that they usually show up at Davidson's first.

What about the 338 Federal?

I did see a .222 and a a 6.5-284 at Gander Mountain today. list price & plain wood = no sale. Although a .222 with nice wood in a 1A might be good for reduced loads...
LGS reports a couple of wholesale sightings of the 9.3x62.
just checked a distributor, 9.3s are listed but 0 in stock. Same with the 1-RSI in .257, 1-V in .220 and 1-A in .280. Only model in stock is the 1-H 450/400.

Mine is the safe but it is a 1B with crazy good tiger maple wood.

Pop,

Thanks for that link... If I weren't so poor, one of those would be mine. smile

I should probably consider selling off some of the extra, and invest in something I'd likely use a bit... grin Altho' $1100 for a #1 seems a bit pricey... shocked

GB - Ruger No. 1 in 9.3x62

Ruger No. 1 in 9.3x62 just popped up on GB. Touch too much for me this month but for a guy with the cash. Here it is!
I heard they were getting one in 9.3x62. However the "tanger" 35 Whelen I bumped into two weeks ago on the used rack is proving to be a distraction from the #1 and just may be its replacement.
Well someone needs to pick it up and do the full report so I don't have too.

I haven't got around to installing a WiFi router in the doghouse... Yet
that wood's plain as Janet Reno...
I would think this new combo will perform very well on the range. It seems larger bores are not so touchy and demanding as the smaller stuff. The plain stock might be a good thing as wildly grained stocks could lead to splitting with the level of recoil they must endure.
Question, I have never owned a No 1 but have always been interested in them. I've shot ones in 7x57 and 7 RM but never one with a larger bore. I have quite a few rifles in what you would call middle calibers (7-08, 270, 30-06, 270 and 300 WSM) but the rifle loony in me calls me to pick up something a little different and the 9.3x62 seems to fit that bill. I really was wondering what the recoil compares to in the No 1 S? I have no issues shooting my 300 WSM with heavy 180 gr elk loads but it is a. Win EW with a good butt pad on it. If I pick up
The 9.3 I would likely hunt both deer and elk with it, so super heavy loads are not always going to be needed. With the thin hard butt pad on the No 1, is it all a comfortable rifle to shoot off of the bench to practice with or is it more on the "brutal" side with the stock setup? Any comments would be much appreciated. My second choice would be one of the 280A or 257 bob RSI that are coming out this year. Much less loony involved with that decision and probably more practical, but pretty close to the other rifles I have.

Lastly, they seem to be priced in the $1,100 + range. Are they worth paying that much for, as the supply is always limited on them?

Still I really want a No 1, or a 35 whelen bolt ...

Comments??...

Thanks,
Craig
Craig,

I have a 9.3 x 62 custom in a 1B. It has a serious after market recoil pad and I am glad of it every round I send down range. The recoil is not punishing but it is lively enough -- much more so than my similarly set up #1S custom in .35 Whelen -- to make me forego the pleasure of shooting a much lighter 1A with the factory issue wafer.

It all depends on your level of recoil tolerance of course. You will not be shooting it a lot fro the bench after sighting in anyway. I have had shoulder surgery and the .375 H&H with a serious pad is all of that fun I want.

Craig,

I shoot a 1-S in 9.3x74R. My go-to load is a 250 AB at 2,658 fps. The recoil is not objectionable to me, even from the bench and I am not a very big guy (5'9" and about 175 lbs). I did replace the factory pad with a 3/4" Decelerator as this is a "using" rifle and not a collector. 286 ABs at 2,400 are softer but with a stronger "push".
Awesome guys, thanks for the responses. Sounds like if I go with the 9.3 I'll defintely upgrade the pad on it from the wafer it comes with. I'm really not very recoil sensative at all, but do enjoy shooting my rifles and hunting them. To me, the more practice you have with a rifle, the more familiar you get with it. Muscle memory means a ton when you have a quick window or snap-shot come up. I like the idea of the 9.3 as I'm planning on doing an Africa trip for my 50th bday in a few years and plan to go back to AK maybe once or twice more until then. I'll probably get more use out of the 280A or 257 RSI, but I already have calibers very similar to them in rifles I really like. I know, we don't need an excuse to buy another rifle, I'm just trying to expand my calibe range a bit both larger and smaller then what I already have.

Thanks again,
Craig
Gun Genie is showing them as being (7) available, also the 1A 280.
I saw an ad for one today on Gunbroker.com. Seller says the rifle is in stock and was photo'd in the ad.
That's the same one I posted a link for a month ago. Plain wood and high retail aside, I am surprised nobody has picked it up or that more options from different sellers haven't shown up yet.
No, however my LGS has new 9.3x74r 1S, 6.5x284 1V, 222 1A. The 9.3x74 appear to be new production as they have the same box, packaging as the 6.5x284 and the 222. He also had a new old stock 1RSI in 300 RCM which I purchased . 1A 257 are on the way expects to see them within 2 weeks. Unfortunately all have very plain wood.
