I first saw a Sav 219 22 hornet when I was 10 in 1961 in the cheap rack at Bill and Ard's sporting goods store. The nice thing about being an adult is you can buy guns cool .

I have (4) here:
1) 219L-D in 30-30 [ I got for $130 at a gun show 2-13-2003 and then drilled and tapped it for a scope mount]
2) 219 in 30-30 with 26" barrel + Simmons 2.5x scope [I got for $150 at a gun show 3-12-2012]
3) 219 in 30-30 with 20" barrel + 18" Sav 220 barrel in 16 ga + 16ga shells+ Sling+ case+ Bushnell 4X [I got for $275 at a gun show 1-19-2013]
4) 219 in 30-30 with 26" barrel + 30" Sav 220 12 ga barrel at pawn shop for $125 12-20-2013

Except for the 219L-D design, I really treasure them.
I am going to build an upper.
I have made one break action upper in 50CB to fit on a 16 ga H&R lower. No extractor. But I am ready to do better.

I have two Utica-made 219s, one a .25-20 that I've added a Utica-made .410 bore 220 barrel to, another a .30-30 that I've added another Utica-made .410 barrel to (Thanks, luv2safari!).

The .30-30 has a Savage-marked Japanese 2.5X scope in Savage mounts on the barrel. The .25-20 had been tapped and drilled for a side mount when I got it in a garage sale in Maine many years ago.

Also have a Chicopee Falls made 220A in 20 guage with a factory Savage variable choke, that I use for a "loaner" and rainy day birdgun, or for chukar hunting in lava flows where it's easy to fall and wreck a fine double (DON'T ask me how I know....). So far I've never fallen with the 220.

The main problem with 219s and 220s is there are LOTS of people looking for them and NOBODY is making any more!
