Waiting to hear from the NRA convention of any news about new No. 1's. I understand they may announce them there. If anyone hears anything.............

Gosh, I wish I could get #1s to shoot accurately. I guess some guys can. I have owned and sold four of them. Each went down the road for accuracy reasons, even after lots of aftermarket alterations, set triggers etc.
Good luck with them, they are pretty guns.

Lipsey's website is only showing one model, the 1B .257 Weatherby, where they were showing a dozen or more. I figure they must be getting ready to add the new models. Ruger's website still shows the current models, however.

I'm thinking Lipseys was showing all of the 2015's just a short while ago. Could be good news or bad, but personally I hope the #1's continue.

I noticed the K1V .223 on Ruger's site now has the corrected twist, 1 in 9" smile

Maybe after that goof they'll offer a .22-250 with 1 in 8" smile

I've seen relatively few of the .257 Weatherbys out there.

The people who got the 257 Weatherbys is basically the people who ordered them. Not many extra got made, I am hoping there is one last run of them before going to the 2016 rifles.
Here is one I think may be in the 2016 list- a 1S in 44 Mag with a 20" barrel. Who would buy one?
Posted By: tex_n_cal Re: 2016 Number ones - 06/07/16
Hmmm...Could they do a 1A instead of a S? smile

In principal though, a .44 mag should be fairly popular. Be a nice companion to a .44 Mag revo, of which I have a couple. It would also be helpful, if they choose chamber & throat dimensions that work well with quality revolver loads.

The .30-30 in a 1A was done previously, but they are not common, and I bet they'd sell all they make.

I'd think about one if I hadn't already shot my wad on a Low Wall .44. It's a beauty, but at my age it'd be nice to have the option of mounting a scope for hunting, without commiting the sin of drilling and tapping.

Might do it anyway. It is, after all, my rifle and one of those short tube replica scopes like the BPCR guys use would look cool.

the A weight barrel of the 1A does not have enough diameter to make a .44

I hope they sold all the 2015's except the last shipment of .257 Wby's, including all the prior year models made up of floor sweepings on the website the last 2 months and any day now they publish a list of all the models for this model year. I've been waiting and literally checking both the ruger and Lipsey's websites every day since 1-Jan.

In the hope that maybe someone at Lipsey's reads forums for suggestions... I will again state some No1 rifles I would like to buy in the coming years:

a No1S in 8x57mm Mauser (that one I will email my dealer guy the minute I see it and tell him to order me one)
a walnut K1A in 7x57mm
a No1H is something big, rimmed and classic, .470NE, .450 NE etc...

hopefully not all of these will come out in the same year.

That'd be a pisser for sure; all your dreams come true in one fell swoop and not be able to swing the cash before they're gone!

I will add 500 NE to that list. And if I had the available money might go for any of those three. Even consider using the plastic for a 500NE.

They offered a 6.5 this year and that is a caliber I like to try. I found a mint (slightly) used 7x57 but passed on both. The accuracy gamble is more risk than I am willing to take. On the other hand 2 moa is good enough for me for a big bore. I have a 450/400. That shoots under 2 moa with factory ammo. I am happy with that and my personal nitch (or buying excuse) will be other big bore No'1s.

They did two versions of the 450 already. The 470 would be different but seems to offer little if anything over the 450. Good option for someone already loading for the the 470. The 470 is an impressive round to look at. I would need to look it up, but the rim on the 470 must be close to the 500. They are both pretty big even by old nitro standards.

I think a 500 would seriously sell. Just for braggin rights, that would be the biggest No1 ever offered.

Big boy, factory ammo:

True, a .500 Nitro should be pretty handy, even in a D weight barrel. The .475 Turnbull, with its 26" C weight barrel, handles very nicely.

The .450 Nitro was made previously in the Bodington series, but they are hard to find. The .458 bore gives you many bullet options, so it would be useful.

I bought a K1V .223 last year and a 1A 7.62x39. Both shoot well. Still like to get a .257 Roy.

I'm still waiting on a 1A in .22 Hornet.....

A 1A Hornet was made in the 1980's; you just have to find one.
Posted By: tex_n_cal Re: 2016 Number ones - 06/13/16
Saw a four digit 6mm 1B, s/n 29xx over the weekend. Wood's a little plain, and the price is a little high, but still a nice rifle.

I'd probably suggest to Ruger:

A K1V walnut in .221 Fireball (I could live with a 1 in 8" .22-250)
K1B walnut in .28 Nosler
1A in 6.5 Grendal
1A in .30-30
1S in .44mag is a good idea, so would be a .480 Ruger (not a Linebaugh)
1H in .416 Rigby, 24" C weight barrel

We can wish for a .348 Winchester, or a .50-90, but Ruger's never made those bore sizes, and I expect the tooling cost would be too high for a 250 piece run.

Yup, I bet those mandrels for the hammer machine ain't cheap.

They made some stainless/walnut .250s one time that looked sweet, but were out of reach for me at the time.

I always liked the original 1S configuration the best or the rare BBS configuration and regretted that it only came in the magnum chamberings. I always thought it should have at least be available in 30-06. That 8x57 would also be very nice.

This would be great or the same in .17 Hornet. My 1B 22 Hornet is one of my most accurate rifles. It will put five well under 1/2".

Always liked the No 1-AH with light barrel contour and no sights....

could go for that one in a couple of caliber variations.

or, a No 1-S in .444....
