Been planting lots of flower bulbs using cheap augers. Ground really hard. 20v Dewalt atomic drills wouldn't turn auger. Got a 1/2" dewalt flex volt advantage brushless hammer drill. It twisted tops off three different bulb augers (one twice) and bent one augers shaft. Went on a quest to find something better. These are made heavy duty! No worries about twisting off or bending them. Will try them out on trapline if do trapping this year; but think they'll be perfect.

I am old fashioned and just use a trowel. Saving 60 seconds on a set isn't a deal breaker for me but then again, I am old and stubborn.

Understood. Still have mine too (but cordless d r ills with augers are pretty nice too if don't have to carry stuff far).

We use an AuSable auger. Several good heavy duty trapping augers out there now in various diameters.
They really come in handy when we get frozen ground.

I use one a buddy gave me. Ground here in PA where I trap isn't that bad. Some stones but not hard.

I have a bulb auger I've used, but I mostly use
the tubular d.h. punch doo-dad or the little
trowel for any dirt holes since the soil is sandy
and it's just a couple of seconds to punch a hole.
A drill and battery and auger is also heavier to
tote. Now, making holes in the black dirt at some
areas around here is easier with the drill and
auger. Just depends on where you're standing
